New Montana 3611RL

Hoping we can get some feedback, likes, dislikes for the 3611RL.
Also curious what you're using to haul. We are currently in a FW and are considering making a change to the 3611RL
We have a 2500 Heavy Duty diesel. The dealer said we would be fine (part of their sales pitch) we also spoke to a rep from the manufacturer and he too said we would be fine...but we're not sure.

Thanks for your help.

Go get the figures from your truck door and if your like us you have to go to the manufacturer to get the actual total you can pull. Then get the figures from the sticker on the 3611RL and see if it works with your truck. Ours is adequate for our rig even with the additional mods we've done and our full time stuff, but the new rigs are a little bigger and heavier than ours. We have a tricked out (by the factory) Dodge Maxi cab that's numbers are more like a 3500, but if we went to a bigger rig we'd most likely get more truck also.

We have a 3610 and absolutely love the floor plan. Keep in mind though the 3610/3611 have the second highest pin weight in the line up. For sure you will be over on pin weight, but perhaps you will upgrade your tow vehicle in the near future as well.

We like DarMar have the original 3601RL floor plan with the kitchen pantry/ washer set up and we love it.

Really towing with any 2500 could be iffy with the pin weights. Best case you may need to upgrade your suspension system with airbags, etc. Which a few MOCers here have done. Remember that it is not only whether your PU will pull it but will it stop it. When you get into the 350 and 450 series of trucks you will get heavier duty brakes and suspension systems, thus the heavier towing capacity for them.

My favorite Floorplan is the 3610/11. I would want a one ton, regardless of Montana. We pulled our first Montana with a Chevy 2500, but then we went to the 3500's. This is a personal preference. Good luck on your decision. We ordered the dyslexic version - 3160. Where we live in the mountains, we wanted shorter.

Airbags alone will not do it. They do not increase weight capacity. They will keep the truck level. A spring upgrade is a viable option.

We just bought the 2015 3611RL in Ocala Fl. We just pulled it across country to CA with our 2012 F350 Dually Powerstroke diesel. The pin weight is listed at 2900 pds but I bet we're at 3000 pds. We have not modified out truck at all. The trailer sits our bed down 2". I will be installing air bags to raise the rear end back up. We will say, the trailer pulled very smoothly with the moride suspension and King pin. I've had the Dodge 2500 with the cumins and not sure I would pull this trailer with it. I suckered in by too many salesman that say your truck can pull a trailer. Well of course our trucks can. On paper, I can pull 22000 pds. Will i? NO! We will be weighing our trailer here at one of the truck stops to confirm our weights. Just my impute since we just bought one and pulled it a 1000 miles so far.

Inside the drivers door is a plate/sticker that lists the axle max weights (GAWR) and the Gross weight of the truck which is the most the truck can legally weigh. (GVWR)

Look at the trailer, find the GVWR of the trailer. (sticker on the left front corner) Take the GVWR of the trailer and multiply that number by .23% That will give you the expected loaded pin weight.

Weigh your truck at a truck stop, grain elevator, etc and find out what your truck actually weighs.

Now take the known truck weights and add the estimated pin weight to the rear axle GAWR. If this puts you over the rear axle rating, you need more truck. If this puts you over the trucks GVWR you need more truck.

Adding air bags, springs do NOT increase the trucks load carrying ability. They only make a overloaded truck sit level. Most RV sales people know nothing about towing and a dealership salesperson is just the same.

People tow overweight every day, your choice what you do. I have a small trailer, the listed pin weight and the actual is almost 1,000lbs heavier. Thus a DRW truck.

We just bought the 3610.(Rv fridge). We pull it with a 2004 dodge cummins 4x4 dually, six speed stick with 4:10s. The truck sits 1/2 inch lower in rear than front. We are riding on the helper springs. We are getting between 10.1 to 12 .1 mpg. Pulls nicely. If you want to pull with your 3/4 ton you will need springs or an airbag.. The 3/4 ton dodge is exactly the same as the one ton except for springs. Someone said, will the truck stop the trailer? The trailer has brakes to stop it. If the truck alone was to stop the load, it will have one hard time.. Personally, you may want to get a dually for the adds weight added by the pin...but by adding sprigs or bags, you will be like the other rvs pulling large loads with a srw truck.

Oh, likes and dislikes. The 3610 and 3611 are exactly the same except the fridge. We love ours.. Hate the thetford toilet, it don't hold water. Hate the bathroom sink. The medicine cabinet sticks out. So when washing your face the water goes on the cabinet,not in the sink.waterheater don't work on electric. Front cap paint has paint that chips easily. Screen door pops ever time you open the door. Love the hydraulic leveling system. Heater and ac works very well. Bathroom floor has heating. Fireplace is cool. Looks real..

One more thing... If you have a gas engine, forget it... You will need a diesel.

I would be very concerned about pulling that rig with a 2500 series truck. Last year we bought the 3725 Montana, which has just about the same pin weight as your proposed 3611, around 2800 plus pounds. In reality, the 3725 pin weight wound up being closer to 3200 pounds, and that was before we loaded it for a trip. We had a 2008 GMC K3500 one ton, and have since bought a 2015 GMC K3500 one ton. Yep, same truck, but the difference between the 2008 and 2015 is 1600 pounds of GVWR, and a higher rear axle rating, to name a few. On the 2008, we were over weight on the rear, and the GVWR. On the 2015 we are now under capacity, but not by a whole lot. However, we feel more comfortable with the extra capacity, and the lower liability risk.

Your choice, but airbags only level a rig, extra springs only do the same. Changing those things will NOT increase the truck's overall capacity, nor will it make it stop better, etc.

Your call though, whatever you feel comfortable with.

Takpak, the only difference is the helper springs... It will increase his load in the bed to that of the one ton . There are no magic brakes,nor drive shaft nor frame... His carring cap will equal the one ton...the 3/4tons give a better ride.. The one ton sacrifices ride for load..

I have a GMC 3500 Duramax and our 3791 weighs just 80 lb more. I am still a little apprehensive about GVWR.

We bought a 2015 3611RL and have had it out 4 times now and we love it. The only thing that's not great is the bathroom sink. The medicine cabinet right above it is pretty deep, which is good right? Well, it gets in the way brushing your teeth and shaving. I know, it's a nit picking thing, but I can tell you we love everything else about it. It pulls very well behind our '11 Dodge Ram 3500 DRW. The floor plan is perfect for us and we love the big fridge with ice maker. My last truck was a Dodge 2500 with diesel and I wouldn't be comfortable pulling that much 5wheel with it.

When we checked it out the ice maker was not connected. The dealer mentioned something about it not being "4 Seasons" capable due to the water run to the fridge. The dealer asked if we were okay with that and we told them we were. They hooked up the water line and we've been loving the ice. In East Texas the temps have gotten into the twenties a few times and we've not had a problem.
I can't believe they would sell an RV with a fridge with ice maker if they didn't want to hook it up??????
Anyway, we've been very happy but we have only had ours since November. Time will tell.

We have a 3611RL and the Ice Maker does not work either because the there is no water supply line connected to it. Keystone Customer Service was a smart a$$ about it and said that units made before March 2015 were not hooked up and mine was made in February 2015. This is crazy to have an ice maker and not hook up the water line to it.

For those that have a 3611RL where did they connect the water supply line and shut off valve to?

we just got our 2015 3611rl. the problem we have is, it has a king size mattress but has a Queen size base. When you sit on the side of the bed you end up on the floor. What were they thinking?
