Back Home--7215 miles later
Home again after four weeks and all those miles. Should have done it in four months--but someone still has to go in to the office. Darn!Started in upstate NY and went west to Spokane WA to visit two sets of kids. Parked in daughter's side yard and then took the 5er on up to ID for some camping and boating fun on Coeur d'Alene Lake. On to Port Angeles and over to Victoria BC. Fantastic city--Butchart Gardens a must. Then to Seattle--still great!! Onward to the mouth of the Columbia River for salmon fishing--WOW. Then to Denver for another set of kids--took the 4 and 6 yr olds camping for three nights--great fun. Homeward trek we stopped in Goshen IN and said "howdy" as we drove past the Keystone factory on our way to TrailAir. (BTW--Elkhart Co. 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen is handy and quite nice. We were there during the 4-H fair--fun.) Did some ancestor hunting in IA and IL. Met fabulous folks all along the way and saw so many things that we wanted to explore--but unfortunately the time restraints were tough!!! Think we have definitely caught the bug! Truck and 5er performed beautifully. Only snafu was a rock which came through the truck sun roof while we were in the Bozeman Pass. At 70 mph+, the rock put a hole in the glass the size of two fists. Fortunately we had the roof closed!!
All the advice from MOC was sure appreciated and made the trip much easier for us. Thanks again everybody!!! Saw Montanas aplenty on the hi-ways and dutifully did the headlight blink but no one responded so we guess that none of them were members--or else their minds were on other things. Saw quite a number parked in yards and storage as well--didn't blink at them! Wish we had been smart enough to start counting them when we began the trip.
Have a bunch of stuff to share with all of you and will do that as soon as we finish unpacking and cleaning things out and up. Suffered seriously from MOC withdrawal symptoms while gone. Looking forward to catching up on all the posts. Sure wish that we could make the rally--unfortunately have to miss as have used up all the vacation time we own. More later.

Welcome back Bill and Pat, Boy it sure sound like you had a wonderful time can't wait to hear all the details. So sorry to hear about the rock but thank the lord that no one was hurt. Glad to know that you did not have any trouble with the truck or the Montana. I too have been doing the blinking lights when we see a Montana on the road with no response as of yet.

Bill and Pat,
Glad to hear you had such a good time. Next time your up here in Spokane you will have to try going on down to Lake Roosevelt, also known as the Columbia River as well. Some great fishing up there to. Coeur D Alene sure is nice right now this time of year as well. I too blink at all the Montana's I see going down the road even if I am not towing and so far not one blinked back. Drove over to Seattle and back yesterday to have dinner for my sister's birthday and passed at least 5 or 6 and no blink. We are going to have to keep working on getting the word out. Glad you returned safe. See you on the road...

Wow! What a trip!
How many miles did you tow in 4 weeks? And did you ferry your Montana over to Victoria BC?
Welcome back and please share the details!

Bill and Pat - Welcome back and glad to hear you had safe travels. Hubby will be happy to hear how well your F350 performed for you (see our signature). Sounds like a great trip. Wow, you must have had your hard hats on, not to have any issues with the rock/sun roof incident. The MOC withdrawal is something else, isn't it? Makes you want to run out and get a portable system for the new Monty.

Thanks for all the welcome backs and comments! It really was a great time--and we'd head out again tomorrow except that we just unloaded everything! Oh and that little problem of vacation time......
Montana Sky--apologies--forgot that you were in Spokane. We'll see you next time.
Craig--we towed all the miles except about 250. Left the Montana at McChord AFB w/ SIL's boat and then drove to Port Angeles and back. It was cheaper not to take the 5er or the truck over to Canada as we didn't have the time to stay long enough to make it cost effective. Also, it turned out that the waits for the car/truck ferry were quite long so that we would have spent the better part of a day to accomplish the round trip. Also drove about 50 mi. in Denver to get to Camping World and back from son's home. It was pretty ambitious and we did have some overly long driving days that full-timers would never do--and with just cause. But it was the only way to accomplish what we needed to do. Fortunately Pat is able and willing to drive the rig and is quite competent so we were able to share out the driving.
Vickster--The truck was a real champ and we were delighted with its performance. Ahh--a portable....sigh...later.
Joyce--hope the moving goes well.
That's about it for now. We'll get out the log and go through the trip for things of interest to the group--like the great Ford dealer and glass specialists who helped us out with the rock incident and the KOA we will never go back to and the other really terrific campgrounds we found and improvements to the truck we learned about and would like your opinions on and etc etc. Later.

Welcome back - know what you mean about MOC withdrawals but we do have a laptop but not always a connection, going to have to do the wireless thing one of these days. We made the trip and stayed at McCord but drove up to Ft. Langley, BC and ended up staying there for a week - want to make the trip to the island if we get up that way again. Sounds like you had a wonderful time, except for the rock incident.
Safe travels.

On the subject of Montana owners not knowing about MOC, we have some friends who bought a 2955 last year and they knew nothing about MOC. Our salesman told us about it so maybe we need to get the word out to the dealers. Glad you had a good trip and the rock didn't get you.

Parrothead,
Information about our MOC site is now published on the Keystone sales brochures. Or, at least the 2004 brochures!

Hey, welcome back Bowie,
Glad everything is in one piece! Sounds like one heck of a trip.
And to everybody else--about that blinking idea. We experienced some of that, too. But we were also guilty of not blinking on occasion. There were times that by the time we saw the Montana on a freeway we had no time to blink or blink back. And sometimes the road or traffic conditions just didn't allow for another hand movement!
We gotta come with some way to improve!
