replacing carpeting
I am sure this has been discussed but being relatively new hear have not found it. The living room carpet in 3711fl is very cheap. We are full time for 18 months and carpet looking tough How hard to replace? Do it yourself, or hire out? I hate paying someone for something I could do

These Thor products used the most cheapest trash they can find!. My carpet is the same way. The plastic moulding outside has disintegrated in the sun. Lots of issues... so far in our travels I have met 3 couples who want a Montana. They ask, " how do you like your Montana?". We proceed to tell them about the cheap products used in the rv. About how long it sits at the dealer eating away at the stingy 1 year warranty. About toilet issues, cable valves, cheap picture board, cheap carpet, denting stainless steel fridge doors, etc etc. The total lack of care and support from Keystone... These people decided not to go with a Montana.. I told them to look up the parent company and if it's THOR TO STAY AWAY!.

Go to the Forest River forums and there are many posts like this. We had a Cougar with only 1 minor warranty item. Now in our Montana with a short list of adjustments I'd take care of myself but returning for slide toppers and will let the dealer adjust.
Poster should tell those 3 couples to just stay home. Every unit will need something(s), Airstream to Prevost. If unwilling to do the things best they rent an apartment.

If I have one thing to truly complain about now in 15 months use, it has to be the carpet, too. I had original carpet in a 2002 Cougar when we sold it in 2013, and it still looked very good so I know it's not us.
This carpet looks worn, stains do not come out easily, and it's bunching up where the LT and BR slides roll over it. I blame KS for not adequately stretching or gluing down ( I don't know which) the carpet. I've replaced carpet in a previous RV with only one slide. I'm looking at this floor plan and seeing a nightmare install, especially under the bed slide.

I have replaced carpet in two rigs now, 3280 and this year a 3400. Replaced carpet with mid grade residential and cheap carpet pad. Cheap carpet pad is still 10 X better than what was originally installed and still thin enough the accommodate slide movement. Plan on removing lots of staples when removing old carpet and pad. Leave a little extra on the ends of the new carpet to fold under and re-staple. It's not difficult for the experienced DIYer but time consuming. If you have reservations about taking on this project, it would be better to find a professional. Cost is about $750 plus your time if you do it yourself.
