Will a 50amp surge protector work on 30amp service?

Which brand is the best for the ones designed to work on end of service cord?

Short answer is yes,with the proper dog bone, but you'll still only have 30amps. I prefer the ones from Progressive industries because of their service. One died on me after 7years of full timing and they replaced it with the most recent version for free including shipping.

I have a progressive surge protector that goes on the end of my cord. I have put a dog bone adapter on it and reduced it to 30 amps when needed. We were without power for 13 days and I was hooked up to my generator with multiple adapters running off of the 20 amp outlets until I was able to get the correct generator adapter. Never had any troubles with any of the configurations that I had on it.
It has been worth every penny that I paid for it as we have had lots of power outages here in southern Florida.
I have had mine for about 4 years. I do not see my model listed on their website anymore.

James I have the progressive 50amp and just a 30amp adapter when we are on 30 amp service! I plug it it in before I hook up my cord to check the pedestal it has saved us a few times.
