I have just turned in an order for a 2955RL. Should have it in about 6-8weeks. A couple questions have popped into my mind. The first question is whether there is a 12 cigarette lighter receptacle in the rig. I dry camp mostly and rely on 12v to charge my cell phone and my digital camera. Second question: Is the fresh water tank easy to drain? Since I dry camp I normally travel with a full tank and when I get home I need to drain it. Is the drain convenient?

As to your questions, we do not have a cigarette receptacle in ours; it has been so long since I dry camped that I cannot really add anything else there. The fresh water tank, though, should have a drain point immediately under it, where you simply unscrew the cap and the water drains. Very easy!

Marvin, I have a 2002 2955 so my experience may not speak dependable to your situation, but here is my report:

There is a "cigarette lighter" 12 volt connection in the "desk area" right under the television. (see my note below)

The fresh water drain does require 'getting down', but it is more convenient than the "low point" drains. The two low point drains and the fresh water drain all use a "screw on" cap which works quite well,a nd can be hand tightened and loosened. The fresh water drain can be reached by getting down at the left rear (under the water tank), but requires, at least, kneeling down.

NOTE re the 12 volt system: We found the one 12 volt battery barely adequate, and replaced it with two "golf cart" 6 volt batteries wired in series to produce the 12 volts for the system. Something you might want to consider if you do a bit of 'dry camping'. My replacement is well documented in earlier posts, but if you have a question, send an email using my profile.

Marvin, Welcome to the forum. We're considering replacing our 1999 2850RK with a unit like the one you've ordered. My current Montana does have a 12v lighter recepticle in the bedroom TV area, but I'm not sure about the later units. We also dry camp quite bit and prefer to haul with tanks empty when possible. I usually open the low point fresh water drain (my low point drains are equipped with quarter turn petcocks) when I pull out of the site and hit the main road.

In our 2005 2955, the 12 volt plug is part of the batwing TV antenna connection and is located in the closet of the bedroom. The fresh water drain is easy to locate at the left rear of the coach. It does require getting down on one knee (I am too old to squat) to remove the cap.

I have not heard of anyone else having this problem and mine may be an isolated case. My cell phone will not charge from the 12v receptacle. I have checked it and it is hot with 13.2 volts. It is also located in the front closet in the bedroom on the television booster. My phone is a Nokia and the provider is Verizon. When I need a recharge I have to plug the phone into the truck.

Ours is a different floor plan, but we do have the 12v receptacle in the bedroom closet next to the tv booster button. I have not tried to charge my cell phone or digital camera, but have used it to power up our Magellan GPS to check directions.

Welcome and congratulations on your 2955. Ours is new and still in storage so I'm not much help on the lighter connection, I'll have to look in another couple of weeks!

Like the others have said we a 12v plug in the bedroom TV area. Since we haven't dry camped yet, we have never used it. Drain for fresh water is right underneath where you fill. Welcome to the MOC!

Ditto on what everyone is saying. I do plan to replace the screw-on caps with a 1/4-turn ball valve. It is easy to do and makes the draining easier. I will do that on all my low-point lines. Welcome to the MOC.

I have added 12 Volt plug to side of kitchen cabinet to the right of entry door.I was able to tap in at fuse box and run a line under the kitchen cabnets. Works great for cell phone and our electric cooler when we travel.

We've never seen a cigarette lighter plug-in in our unit. It would be nice for running the inverter that we use in the truck.

Well, I'll be darned. I never noticed that 12 volt outlet in the bedroom TV area. That'll be handy if we are stuck somewhere without electricity. Another example of things you learn on this forum.
