Slides

My 3400RL has four slides and I would like to know if it's ok to keep three of the slides closed and leave the dining room slide open so I can have access to the living room. Does this cause any problems to the hydralic system if I don't have all the slides closed?

Thanks in Advance

I have our 3400 stored on our driveway and have the bedroom and kitchen out all the time. I haven't found a problem with it yet. I can't imagine any reason that you couldn't have the livingroom slide out all by itself. But then I am sure that someone else will be along to say different. Everyone has an opinion. This is just ours. Paul and Kathi

I keep my 3400RL at the lake all summer and during the spring and fall when the coach comes home I cannot open all the slides as they will stick into the street. I open all three on the one side and leave the sofa slide closed. Have done this now for two years and have not had any trouble. While the coach is at the lake I leave all the slides out, bring them in once a month to keep everything lubed. This is my second coach and have done this to both of them with no trouble. Enjoy your 3400RL.

I'm hoping someone else comes along here and says something but why would they give us the ability to shut down some of the slides if it wasn't okay to have only one or two out or in? I hope it is because there is a big bush preventing us from pulling our living room out all the way. We can't move it until fall. We designed our RV access for our previous unit that was smaller and only had one slide.
Happy trails...............

5rvers,

The IRC (Individual Room Controller)valve block gives you the ability to open or close any of the slide rooms in ANY order you desire. That is, if there is only one room you want to open for what ever reason you can think of, simply close the valve thumb-knobs for the rooms you want to leave closed and push the wall switch. Only the room you want to open will then do so.

Pick any combination you want. It won't hurt a thing. The system is designed to give you that functionality.

If you have any further questions, you know where I am.

Dale

We also use one or two slides at a time. We frequently run one or two out at rest stops to facilitate lunch. The new Cambridge has individual controls for each slide so it makes it even easier. However, I did learn something on our last unload. I had the main slide about halfway out to give me access to the back of the coach. I couldn't figure out why the air conditioner wasn't keeping up (104 degrees outside) Then it occurred to me that the seals don't seal unless the slide is either all out or all in.

Dale,
Thanks for clarifying about the slides. I'll sleep better tonight.

We open our living room slide by itself in order to get to our refrigerator when stopping at a rest area. Sometimes we open it all the way, other times only halfway, depending on our location. Can't say that it's ever caused a problem.
