As noted in some of my other posts, we were dead set on an Open Road rear-living unit at about 37' (exterior). That one was going at about $46K, out the door. If she paid $75K for ANY of the Open Roads, her dealer made a fortune off of her. We liked the OR's for the same reason we like our Mounty. Great bang for the buck. OR focuses on upscale treatments (4-seasons, Corian counters, REALLY nice carpet and vinyl, etc.) at mid-level pricing ($35K to mid $60K's). Bad luck for Open Road (and great luck for us and the Mountaineer folks!) our Open Road salesperson forgot that when you quote a $45K item, you really should do better than just scribble down some incomprehensible jibberish and leave out several options that the custome spelled out ...IN WRITING!! We had to call the fella three times to get the thing quoted correctly (factory order), and the quote sitll looked like a 12 year old did it. Don't know about the rest of you, but at that price, I'd like to see a salesman spend at leat a few minutes writing up a reasonably professional-looking document. Jim got it right in the post above, lots of lazy people out there, and I'll be darned if I'm giving them my money! But I digress.....

Didn't really like our Mounty salesperson either, but he sure did find the right unit on the lot for the right price!! Couldn't be happier!

Having previously owned a 2004 Open Road 357RLDS and currently own a 2004 Montana 3685FL, I can honestly say that I prefer the Monty. The only reason I traded in the OR was because I was tired of dealing with all of the problems that were popping up. This is not to say that OR is an inferior trailer, because a fellow camper in our campground has the same year and model OR that I had and he hasn't had a bit of problems.

Every make of RV has their lemons. I just got tired of trying to make lemon juice and switched to oranges.

As for the Open Road's $75,000 price tag, there's one born every minute.
