Hi I am buying a 2950 Montana

Hi I am buying a 2950 Montana and I think that I am getting a good deal but wanted to check. Price 37,899 minus trade in of 98 grandview sp popup camper allowing 5000. Net 32,899 but then he said the hitch and brake controller for my ford f-250 would be 1300 install and I think that is way to high just wanted to find out from you if this is a good deal or not. Thanks waiting for your response

Welcome to the forum this is a great place to find answers. The wife and myself recently ordered a 2006 3295rk and wound up paying 39900. with most options. During our shopping we looked at a 2950 and it seems as though it was less but I can't say for certain. It will be difficult to say without knowing how the unit is equipped, and more specific info on hitch.

There are many on this forum much more knowledgeable and I am sure more info will be coming. When you make your deal enjoy your camper.

First of all Welcome to the MOC Family.

It sounds like a good deal but there are other variables. One of which is I would have no idea what a 98 grandview sp popup camper could possibly be worth as a trade in and how great is the resale market for such a used trailer in the dealers area.

As far as the hitch is concerned, Do what I did. Tell the dealer you you want the hitch thrown in as part of the package. My dealer threw in a Pullrite Superglide. This is a $2,000 hitch and it included installation. He may take the deal or possibly just lower the price of the hitch but you can be sure he will not walk away.

AAHHHH Negotiations, I just love Negotiating a deal. Nothing more fun than getting into a salesman's head. Lorraine hates it when I put on my negotiating hat.

Good luck.

If you are getting the 2005 or 06 F250 they come with the controller. Older ones need to have them added. Tell the dealer you want the hitch thrown in or you are going to try another dealer in another state. At the very least they should split the cost with you if they really want to make the sale. Give them a few days to think it over. Good Luck!

Welcome to the World of Montana.
Prices vary so much around the country because of so many variables. (availability, sales, demand, etc). I have been pricing for about a year and found that most price the units about 8-10 thousand below the listed price. I bought mine for 32 with a list of 44. I am paying 1100 for a Reese Hitch with installation included. RV pricing is like car or truck pricing. If a unit is very popular and moving well it will not be discounted as much.

Happy camping.

I would think you could do better on both deals. I am getting my 06 3670 for 34,200 and that is pretty loaded out except f.p. and generator but has high gloss sidewalls. You could do better on hitch but you did not say what hitch you were looking at. Tell them they are not the only dealer and you will drive if you have too to get a better deal.SHOP them and get a wriiten price Quote. Most of the time they won't pass up a sell. If one dealer can sell for a lower price there are very little variables except for shipping and tax. GOOD LUCK.

If your F250 is not a 2005 or 2006 but has the tow package then it probably has a plug under the dash (somewhere near the center is where mine were) for the brake controller. There also should have been a connector for that plug laying under a seat or in the glove box. Look under the rear seat if a supercab or crewcab or behind the front seat if a standard cab. All you have to do is mount the controller, splice in the controller wires to that connector and plug it in. If you don't have the connector for the plug, you can probably get one from the controller mfr, the Ford dealer, or possibly some RV dealers. Those connectors came with my 1992, 1995, 1999, and 2003 Fords.

You didn't say what kind of hitch and controller but that price seems rather high to me but it's been awhile since we bought a new hitch. You can buy a Prodigy controller (the one I'd very highly recommend) for $110-150 depending on where you buy (look online for the best price).

Good luck and congrats on the new Montana.

I believe it was in the low 50's. The bottom line was around 42,ooo after the dealing and then he gave me 7,500 for my 97 jayco w/slide 5vr. But it has a bad cooling unit on the refr so we did some negotiating. They are real good people to do business with and the service dept. is second to none. I have bought three rv's from them and have always shoped them on price and always have bought from them. Don't know were you are at but the name of the dealer is
Bus supply company in McComb Miss. The guy to speak with is Brian Sanders. He is the owners son and they are really good to deal with. There Ph#. is 1-800-748-8681. Speak with Brian and tell him Darrell David sent you. He will treat you right.
