sharing my success

I generally post asking for help and explaining my lack of mechanical skills. This time I want to share a success without any outside assitance.

My 12 volt light went out over the sofa. I got my tool kit.

After a couple days I looked at the light fixture. I was amazed to find the lens slides. I was further amazed to find it came off easily. Boy, the bulb was definitely black and looking bad.

I rested a couple days. Then I looked at the fixture tying to find out what kind of bulb it was. Bifocal challenged, I peered and squinted. Finally, I found the fixture said I needed a type 921 bulb.

I went directly to the internet. I found a 921 wedge type bulb at an RV site for 7.95 each. For 12 bucks I could replace it with one of two intensity LEDs.

We went to Walmart for meds. I thought I'd check for the bulb in automotive. Zowie. Two syvannias for 3 dollars. I bought it.

At home I enlisted my wife to remove the bulb. OK, I admit my previous comment that I had no help with this fix was a little over blown.

Sure looked like the ones I bought. I plugged in a new bulb, and it burned. I successfully reinstalled the lens cover. nothing is broken.

This is a real success. I didn't have to buy a new $8 fixture, and didn't have to pay a $70 service call and a $100 labor charge.

What a great day.

Gene

Wow, good Job. Be careful now. You might just become a mechanically inclined dude. Lookin' and thinkin' and researchin' solutions is what it is all about.
