Disk brake conversion
Anyone have experience with converting Mpntana over to disk brakes?? The advantages to disks are huge - shorter stopping distance, longer life, less fade and many more. It looks like 2 major suppliers - Titan and Kodiak. Anyone know of others?? Good or bad experiences out there??

I had Morryde put on disk brakes when they added the IS system. They work great and I wouldn't buy another rig without them. By going with the IS I got a stronger suspension and larger lugs to deal with the added braking stress they could cause.

Rick, we had Mor/Ryde install Kodiak disc brakes on our 2013 Big Sky after the 2013 Fall Rally at Goshen IN. That's one alternative and Mor/Ryde is exceptional in product and service. I believe they also have Dexter Discs if you request them.
We are pleased with the outcome. Living near Chico you may get someone local to do the install. Good Luck. Dennis

Bought my disk brakes at the Houston RV Show for around $1500 a couple of years ago and had them installed for around $700. Dealer was with Titan. I believe Titan actually owns Kodiak. I received a Titan controller and Kodiak hubs and calipers. Installed on 2011 3100RL - World of difference in stopping.

We also have Kodiak disk brakes and have been very happy with them. Ours were installed by MorRyde.

I moved ahead on this - ordered all of the parts from etrailer.com for $1700. Big pieces were Titan EHB controller, Kodiac disks/hubs. If anyone wants the complete parts list I can provide copy of my order. etrailer was very responsive and really good to work with. If you have automotive skills and tools like tubing flaring, bending this job is not really that big of a deal. Hardest part was running the brake lines from front to back. Wiring up the unit was pretty straight forward. Start to finish was 3 days.
And what a difference! I am stopping in half the distance! From a safety standpoint, I will never have an RV without disk brakes again. If anyone wants to check out the installation I will be at the Jackson Rally June 10.

This is on my bucket list. Only a matter of not having to spend money on other things instead. From the article done in trailer life, it seems like a "not so difficult" job. John

i'm going to do the job myself next month going with the kodiak disk and the carlisle hydrastar 1600 buying the kodiak and hydrastar from etraler the lines and hardware some from autozone and some from diacount auto parts and some made myself going 1/4 from actuator and terminating with 3/16 at the flex line by the brakes my total is $1500 will show pics when i'm done

Rick,
Do you have any pictures of your install? Just got all my parts in and getting ready to tackle t this weekend and was looking for some ideas on actuator location and how to run lines to axles.
