Need assistance with a part

I broke my amber lens (porch light) on my 2007 3400. I went to CW for a replacement, but they have the wrong style - not the rectangle lens, only one that has a curved face on it. Won't fit. I ended up buying the whole assembly then from CW and brought it home to install. When I saw how much trouble it would be (remember, I have two bad shoulders and can't work over my head - plus it all has to be thoroughly re-caulked), I took it back with the idea of just calling my dealer and having a replacement lens sent to me.

Guess which one the parts mgr sent me... That's right. The same lens I took back to CW. I just received an email from the parts mgr asking if I could send her a pic or part number. I had thrown my cracked one away, not figuring this was going to be such a problem.

Could someone send my a pic and a part number of that amber outside lens?

Thanks!

Dave - I somehow lost the amber porch light cap and replaced it at an auto parts store. I measured the area that the old one came from and was able to get the replacement that way. - Jim

Thanks, Ozz. How hard is it to find a 195 amber bulb? I will try to find an open auto parts store this afternoon, also.

Thanks, Bob. I replied.

BTW, while poking around in the auto parts stores, I noticed some LED replacement bulbs starting to pop up in these stores. No 921s or 1076s (the two we use in our Montanas), but I am sure you could probably order them. I know you can order over the internet and I also am aware they are expensive - approx 3-4 times the cost in AutoZone. But the way I go through these standard bulbs, I am wondering if they would last longer?

Also, I had a question about the different number bulbs that look identical. They 921 and the 194, for instance. I studied the base sizes closely. Can't see any difference. Both are 12v. I almost bought an LED 194A (amber) to try in my 921 porch light socket. However I chickened out, figuring I really didn't want to experiment with a $10 bulb... The 194A did not seem to be a "directional" light. The LED replacement for the 2057 bulb DID seem to be directional. I know this has been discussed as a minor problem for LED bulbs.

Any experts out there?

Dave, maybe this will help muddy the subject. I did a search on LED Bulb Specifications, and there seems to be a lot about them. On site
http://autolumination.com/specifications.194.html may get you started in the right direction for crossover bulbs. ( Bulbs only, not the lense) Bill

Most auto parts stores have a catalog that will tell the wattage of the bulbs. Generally the only difference between bulbs with the same base is the wattage, higher wattage is more brightness.
