3440RL Purchase

Hello all,
I am awaiting payoff on my 82 day old Cougar 244RLSWE that was totaled about three weeks ago in a pretty good wind storm in our area that placed three trees onto what was the roof of the unit. We are planning on purchasing a 2015 (new) Montana 3440RL as soon as the insurance companies wrap up their portions. I have seen post from a few other members that have purchased 3440's recently and I am hoping someone can chime in with some feedback on their purchases. Are you satisfied, what do you like, what do you not like, etc? Thanks everyone.

I would like to add another welcome to the forum! May I ask who your insurance is with? 3 weeks seems like a long time when the damage should not be in question. We are full timers and if something should happen to ours would hate it if insurance company took that long.

Thank you all for the welcoming messages. I don't want to give the wrong impression regarding my insurance carriers as some of the timing has been due to no fault if there's. That being said State Farm has always done a great job for me. I have additional coverage for GAP via Good Sam. I don't have any history with them but hopefully things will progress much smoother then my initial filing experience.

Yes it was a total bummer to have three trees fall on our new purchase after only getting 2 weekend trips out of the unit. It has however forced us to make a plan to thin some of the trees in our property.

Just a few comments on the 3440. This unit has the living area of our first Montana and the bedroom/bath of our current 3160. We also had a 365 Big Sky with a similar kitchen. First, we are in our third Montana because we like the company, the floor plans met our needs and the MOC. The 3440 living area separates the kitchen from the living area. And, many people want a separate desk. I assume the hutch has a pantry? After (2) units with the wrap around kitchen, Terrie wanted to be able to see the TV and talk to visitors while cooking. Everyone uses their units different. Envision how you live. Try and simulate your normal day. Imagine what you had in your Cougar and where it will go in the Montana. Good luck and welcome.

I wanted to thank everyone for their advice, comments and for sharing their experiences. It is proving to be immensely useful. We are a step or two closer to getting to the finish line. The trees are off of the old camper, the insurance company has officially classified it as a total loss. Now I am demo'ing enough structure to allow for the removal of the unit by the tow company. Onto the GAP claim and it's a new Montana for us.

We had to trim some trees after a big pine fell on my wife's less than 30 day old Murano several years ago. No big deal to me. It was just a car that could be replaced. And beside that the damage was already done so why get uptight.

Welcome to the club, That is the MOC and the fallen tree club. We had a similar experience with a sportfisherman parked in our yard during an ice storm. We also have the 3400 RL but it is a 2007 and we just purchased it used in November so have yet to use it. The layout is perfect for my wife and I who are retired and only rarely have overnight visitors to the campground due to a four hour drive from our bricks and sticks unit. I am particularly impressed with the construction of the Montanas and am sure you will enjoy it. By the way, there is not a tree anywhere on my property now that could even think of hitting our toys. My sons have nicked named me "The Beaver".

We also have 3400RL and are very pleased with it. We have not had any serious isssues with it. It is a 2013. We got it for full timing although we are only most timing so far. Love the floor plan and 6 point level-up.
