Mattress Topper

Anyone using a mattress topper that they would recommend? We have an RV King that needs some help, thanks.

We use a serta four inch memory foam topper from kohls. Great. King. Did have to trim the length of the topper to fit the rv mattress, but no big deal. Liked it so much we got one for the house.

We use Novaform 3 inch Comfortlux Gel Memory foam mattress topper from Costco. Love it. Put it on the cheap rv mattress more comfortable than our $1800 mattress in the stick house. Have had it 5 yrs still looks like new. $159 for the King. You do have to unwrap it, let it expand over night and air out to get the new smell out. It tells u that. Nothing like it IMO. Worth every penny. Also the gel keeps it from being hot. We also had to trim it but easy to cut.

Thanks for the feedback. Any difficulty with topper weight impacting the underneath storage mechanism?

We use a natural latex foam topper 3 inch. It is very heavy which is good. That makes it dense so it supports you better than any other foam. At the same time it is soft so there are no pressure points. As for cost for about a $100 per inch, for a queen bed $300. Expensive but like every thing else you get what you pay for. I've had both petro foam and this. This is far better.

Yes, does make for a heavier lift

We picked up a 3 inch topper at Costco and trimmed it to the RV king we had in our 2009 3400RL. Worked fine for us for ~4 years then we replaced with a Denver Mattress.

You can easily change the struts by lifting the tabs at each end. So mattress weight not an issue. Struts available at rv or auto stores. John

Memory foam topper here also saved our bed. It was bought from Costco about one night after our first attempt at sleeping aboard. We froze from the mattress as there was no insulation from the mattress. The topper warmed the mattress up hugely plus actually made the bed comfortable.
We still use it and it still works.

we think just going to costcos or sams club and buying a new mattress is the best way to go. the cheap RV mattresses are terrible

Thanks for your responses. While at Bull Shoals (raining for a couple of days and unable to put my filet knife to use), we bought and installed a 3" Serta Cool topper from Walmart. After sleeping on it for the past two nights and the rain gone, we are feeling great and ready to get back on the river.

We did the mattress topper routine. They are helpful. But the best $385 I spent was on a RV King Sized memory foam mattress. As soon as I got the Montana home from the dealer I jumped on Amazon. The mattress came in a 7' long 12" square box. Pulled it out put the roll on the bed, cut the plastic and watched the magic! it self inflated to a 8" Memory foam that is just as comfortable as can be. Not much heavier than the original "RV" mattress. Those things are way bad!

AND! I did advertise the "still in plastic" RV Mattress on Craigslist and had the crappy one gone in 2 hours. 2 hours! Awesome!

We also sold the new in plastic RV mattress right away and replaced the queen bed with a memory foam mattress. We learned from our previous fifth wheel that the best way to go is the whole memory foam mattress.
