I just filled up this AM and the price jumped 5 cents. Price in NJ is $2.93 our prices are always lower than most other states. I can't wait until I fill my oil tanks before leaving for the winter....500 (plus) gallons @ $3.00.....not good!

At Lee Vining, CA on hwy 395 a couple of days ago the price for diesel was $3.999! On down the road at Bishop, CA the price was $3.279. By the time we got home to Bakersfield, CA it was $3.099. Haven't checked this morning but I'll bet it has gone up. The best price we paid while on our most recent outing was in Gardenerville, NV at $2.979. And after a couple of days it went up to $2.999.
Looks like the price is starting to creep up because of winter coming on. At least that is what they will tell us.
Travel safely,
HamRad

Ya better check again, Dennis. Last Saturday it was $3.099 per gallon. But I didn't need diesel, then. Yesterday I went past the same station to fill up and it was $3.219! that's a 12 cent difference in less than a week!!! What the hay!!! So I only put in about 12 gallons (I hold 38) and being retired should keep me running for 2-3 weeks.
I could not figure out what caused it. There's no big Holiday coming up (I don't count Halloween because it's not really a Holiday and most people walk for that one). Other than my birthday, I'll even stay home for that.
I didn't think about wintertime, since it ain't even close to winter down here in So. Cal., but that must be it. That sounds like a stupid enough excuse. It might be a little higher to manufacture a winter formula but at 12 cents a gallon. Who are you trying to kid? I think they are trying to get a jump on winter profits. They want to have a nice Christmas. I know I won't be.

Four things things happening. Crude prices are creeping up. Refineries are switching over to home heating oil. The massive inventories that were the result of economic downturn are dropping as the economy gets back on its feet. The $US is sliding against other currencies. Since the US imports most of its crude and increasingly many refined products this means higher prices. The $Can tends to move with the $US and we are also experiencing higher pump prices for all products.
The long term trend for all petroleum products is upward. We might as well get used to it. :-(

Diesel in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was 86.9 cents per liter, which equates to about $3.30 U.S. per U.S. gallon and we have the majority of refineries right here in Edmonton!!! Tax -- Tax Tax.

To check on Diesel prices go to the website below. Although the link is for Indiana, midway down the page on the left, you can put in any state or province. You can also find out gas prices too.
