shingle shot

Has anyone got a shingle shot, now that they have gone from over $200 to 28 and got a knockdown reaction for a few days.

My Doctor has recommended that we get one and after already being hit once with that painful ailment, we will get one as soon as we get back from our trip.

I have always been afraid of shingles since watching both parents go through such pain and want to talk to my doc about it but have heard that if you have auto immune problems it's not a good idea. Anyone know anything about that? Glad to hear the price has gone down and sorry to hear of your bad reaction.

Bob are you saying that the shingles shot cost went down from $200 to $28? Where did you get a price like that? When I tried to get one, the pharmacy was out, but had some on order. I'm waiting for them to call me. I'm not aware of any reactions to the shot. My DW got her shot and had no reactions.

Apparently it just cameout in the last few weeks as our ins agent called Carol and told us. We are using Healthnet
so Carol called the Doctor and made an appointment for us both. Went in Monday am was real quick and easy. The nurse said no real reactions. They now tell me there is a one in 70 chance, so guess who got it. By Friday am I was much better. If I never get the shingles it will be worth it.

My Dr. still is charging $330 for the vaccine, and $22 for giving the shot. MOST of it will be covered by my Part D perscription drug plan, but I have to pay up front, and then be reimbursed by the Part D, so all in all it will cost $37. Unfortunately, I'm on a waiting list at the Dr. office for the vaccine to come in, it's on "backorder", which I feel probably means, they do not keep it in stock, and order as needed.

Sharon, you don't look anywhere close to old enough to be on Medicare.

During our annual checkups this past July my doctor recommended the shingles shot. I figured he was just drumming up business so did not inquire to cost or insurance coverage. Now you all have me wondering whether I should reconsider.
