NEAT IDEA (IMHO)

We just had a second A/C installed in the bedroom and when I took the filter grill off, I noticed the factory had installed a couple of rubber bands to hold the filter in place. I have never seen this before on any of the A/C units we have had. I think it is a pretty neat idea, but then again I am easily impressed and it does work to keep the filter in place especially when the unit is running. The 2 blue rubber bands were where the original ones were and I added the 2 yellow ones. I also did this to the A/C in the living room.

Not seen that one before. My A/C has no banding or clips of any kind for the filter. Seems like a good idea and I would consider fastening the mesh if I had problems with shifting and the like, but so far so good.

I wonder if the bands might help eliminate any minimal movement or flapping from the A/C pulling air through it. I never thought of needing that but anything to prevent the filter from moving during operation and risking some dust being jostled into the A/C should be good.

Art,
Before I added the 2 additional rubber bands, the outside corners would get sucked upward while the A/C was running. So these definitely help to keep everything in place while it is on.

Our travel trailer was set up that way, I never thought about continuing the band usage in the Montana. Thanks for the heads up, will be doing it (when I get back on Montana duty again!!)

Looks like a good idea, think I will jump on the "band" wagon too.
