Be aware CA is also changing their Vetern's and Handicap pass to one compatible with the new system. Read all about it at ReserveCalifornia

My husband I just bought a 5th wheel (3930FB) and I am desperately trying to understand the "invisible length" (if that is even a term) and how to confidently "squeeze" into a campground. We live in Valencia, California. Previously, we had a 35' trailer and camped at REFUGIO for 8 years, the max pad length is 35' but we have seen many large, large rigs in spaces. I am looking at campsite pictures, how far the back can hang over the pad and of course have measured our 3930-we are 35' without the front 5th wheel overhang. Is there a secret to confidently reserving a site and knowing we will fit. I hope this makes sense! thank you!

The trailer is measured from the front cap to the back cap. Sounds like you have a 40ish footer. They usually ask how long your trailer is and if you have one or 2 vehicles. The space needs to be around 65 feel would be my guess.

We have Googled our prospective campground and viewed in satellite image. You can zoom in and sometimes see where the big rigs are parked. Class A and the like. Compare to the campground map and pick your campsite. I had a 35' DP and got it into Carpenteria in many sites and they had a 25' limit. Our friends tour campgrounds when they are there and make notes on best/longest sites for future reference. There are many sites at Refugio along the beach ends of the rows that can take longer rigs. The trees and limbs are a problem at Refugio for getting in and out of the sites.

Thank you! I guess my issue is being a rule follower when reading max length on a website. Lol I research using google maps, campsite photos and the campground website. I will just gain the confidence in knowing our rig will fit! I measured it yesterday front to back stabilizers, we have plenty of room to hang over, if the campgrounds are set up like that. I’m excited to explore and camp in this 5th wheel!

I’m m in the same boat as you. I believe our trailers are the same length. I have the veterans pass and would love to go to the California campgrounds, just worried about maneuvering tight areas. Let me know what you find out. Thank you !!
