One more important note, to which I learned the hard way, look for a hitch that has height adjustments! As our truck beds get taller, the FW,s do not align perfectly sometimes to get the good clearance between bed rails and FW. GOOD LUCK.

If you already have a gooseneck ball hitch installed in your truck bed, like I do, you might consider the new Pullrite #2600 Superlite Single Point attachement. It attaches to your existing gooseneck ball, so it's removable if you need that ball hitch for something else. It comes with an attachment that converts the king pin on the RV to have a ball on it. It's sort of the reverse of having the ball in the bed. The ball on the
RV drops into a funnel-like receiver on the hitch in the bed that allows you to be off-center, and still easily hookup because the weight of the trailer causes it to just fall right into place. Besides the RV, I will be pulling my cattle trailer with my truck. I didn't want a permanent 5th wheel hitch in the back, nor the old rail system. I bought the neck attachment to convert my cattle trailer to use the same hitch as my RV, so now I don't have to switch out anything. AND BONUS... this style of hitch is way easier to hookup than a regular gooseneck or regular 5th wheel. The reverse ball system on the RV (and now my cattle trailer) drops into a funnel-like connector on the hitch that allows you to be off-center and still have the trailer hookup. If you have ever tried to hook-up a gooseneck trailer, it can be very unforgiving if you don't have that ball in the bed perfectly centered under the gooseneck hitch. This Pullrite #2600 solved all my problems of having 1 truck, 2 different styles of trailer hitches (gooseneck and 5th wheel) and hooking-up difficulties. It's so easy now.....the ball drops right in there and unhooks with the pull of one pin that I can reach from the tailgate with the long wire hook provided by Pullrite . Visit the Pullrite website so you can see what I'm talking about. It's a great hitch.

We also have the Curt 24K with the Mopar emblem. It is so much better than the two Reese hitches we had previously. First Reese had bad welds that gave way while towing and caused lots of damage to the truck but none to fiver. Second didn't come apart but chucking was a problem with both Reeses that I never did solve. The Curt hooks and unhooks easily with no chucking at all. Other brands may be fine; my experience is limited but I would buy another Curt if ever necessary.

I also went with Demco Recon. There was an article in a recent Trailer Life where I first read about the hitch, and it seemed to be easy to "deconstruct" and take out of the bed - and that appealed to me. I used a Reese hitch years ago and my son would help me get the heavy thing out of the bed of the truck and put it back when we traveled. We sold our last fifth wheel about the same time he left home, and we had a series of bumper-pull travel trailers - so I did not have to deal with heavy fifth wheel hitches.

We have been on the road since buying the Montana, and we should be back to the home base in a couple of weeks. I will update you on whether or not the Recon is easy to remove or not. So far it has been really easy to use.

One more satisfied B&W owner. Had it since 2009 and have about 50.000 trouble free miles with two 5ers, two trucks and both the Turnover and Ford puck bases using the same head unit. Customer service on a couple minor items/questions was great. Best price when I bought ours was Tweety's though others may be competitive

It was suggsted by the dealer as the "must have"!
I have an Andersen Ultimate 20K. Love it. Already had the BW turnover ball so this worked great. Easy in and out. Flat floor.

B&W is a great hitch, and it’s made here in the US by American tradesmen.

If the OP goes the Anderson way, do your homework on the aluminum version as there have been several reported failures.

As far as a clear bed - the B&W is as well when removed, a 10 minute job at most

You can get the Curt as an OEM accessory on Ram trucks so no out of pocket though it costs a little more that way.

Not sure if Ford or GMC offer the same.

We are also new to Fifth Wheeling but after hearing about all the different units B&W turned out to be the best and the new companion worked perfect in the bed of my F350. It was set up for a fifth wheel so no drilling and its location is perfect since it was done at the factory before I bought the truck. Reese make great stuff and that is what I used on my travel trawler, but B&W won and it doing great.

Lippert does not endorse Anderson Ultimate Hitches. So any frame issues will have to covered by Anderson if you use one.
