I wonder if we could get a confirmation somewhere (Keystone?) tht this change in numbers was done WITHOUT major modifications (axles, frame, etc) on the 3400???

Just got home. Too late now. Will be in Tampa tomorrow at the show. Hey, I know! I'll ask a salesman at the show. They know everything...

We were visiting today with Dale at D&L in Wenatchee. I asked him about the new numbers so he called the rep. They did replace the axles with 6750# axles so it sounds like there is a reason for the change. On the smaller rigs(whichever ones those may be) they increased to 6000# axles. So being new to the forum, that is a good thing right?

Heavier axles are a good thing, DMS. It means we can carry more stuff! More stuff is good.

They have a whole line of Montanas at Quartzite today, at least 3 3400s and one Cambridge, but nary one Big Sky. Of course, it could have been somewhere else in town, hidden behind all the people and tents, but we didn't see one.

Thanks for the info Judy.I kind of thought that but thought I'd better ask. How much "more stuff" do people actually carry? The sticker on the side of the 3400RL I was looking at today said not to exceed 1571 lbs. I think that was after propane and water tanks were full. Is that a lot of "stuff"?

Yes, if you keep that water tank full. We normally drive it with 1/3 full - propane full, though. We sit at most CGs with it empty.

DMS, that might be a realistic number for weekending and vacationing but many fulltimers are running considerably heavier than that. I think the numbers on the side of ours is similar to that you quoted. We're under on the weight on the axles and the pin so I don't worry about it. Plus, Keystone told me we're fine.
