Hazmic, Noneck,
I had noticed it also and it will be brought to the attention of the dealer to have it checked out as well. Thanks for the observation!!

This is an old subject (Tireco and Mission Tires) many, many folks have had their tires either replaced my Tireco, or given a refund for replacement. We received $710.00 in replacement funds for 5 new tires. Just make the call to Tireco and tell them you want 5 new Tires, or your replacing them and want to be reimbursed for the replacement. They take care of the deal pretty easy. Good luck on this, glad you found it in the driveway and not on the Freeway at 65 mph.

Tireco replaced all 5 of my Missions with Freestars about 2 months ago. I don't know know if the Freestars are any better or worse or the same tire. I think part of the problem is that almost all trailer tires or made in China; few in USA, even some of the familiar brands!

A late response on my part Bingo but pleased to learn you and your family got home safely after the Mission tire issues. I will of course be looking at our tires again. We now have close to 5000 miles on our Mission tires so am very alert to wear, etc.

I suggest until you get to Myrtle and other destinations though to keep DW out of those BigSky models!! Be safe and keep us informed on your progress with Tireco. Dennis

Tireco is UPSing 5 replacement tires to the dealer for mounting. Should have the tires by the end of the week or first thing next week. They were very easy to deal with. I have decided to give the replacements a go for the rest of this year and will replace them over the winter with either Michelin Xribs or B.F. Goodrich's. Looks like the Michelins are around $250 each and the Goodrichs are in the $150 range. Dealer looks at our slide out issue tomorrow so hopefully by the 4th of July we will be road-ready again.

Bingo, I am just curious. You have a 3400 which is rated at 15,500,it came with tires rated at 3750 why would you go with tires that are rated for only 3042 and be willing to pay 250.00 each for them? Why not G rated at 3750 tires, they cost around the same price if not a little lower than the Michelins. Wouldn't you want a tire to get to get the max out of that 15,500 rating?

Jack,
I have the 6,000 pound axles and my rig is only rated for around 14,000 - 14,400 if I remember correctly. The 3000 pound tires actually match the provided axles. The 7,000 pound axles and higher weight capacity came about in the latter half of 2007. Ours was actually a November 2006 build.

That makes sense,I have 2007 made in the latter part of the year. I thought I read somewhere you had the 2007.
My mistake! In that case,I would go with the Michelins I've heard nothing but good about them.

Bingo Did you find out what is running down the tire from the hub? Nothing should be leaking there and I would be concerned with it.

Dealer is going to pull hubs, check brakes, bearings and seals when they replace the tires. I have a hunch that I might have melted part of a seal since going to the NE rally I went around a turn which pulled the brake cord and I didn't realize it for about a half mile. Dang truck pulls too good. By the time I got stopped to reset the brake cable, smoke was rolling off the brakes. Will let you know for sure.

Bingo you have luck about like I do!

While on the way to Gettysburg I had an ABS light and a brake light come on. I had the brakes checked out and was told they were ok but the brake lines were rusty and I needed to consider getting another truck if I was going to be towing depending on what I would be towing. My truck has almost 170,000 miles on it.

Before I got home the engine light came on. I made it home ok, nothing appeared to be major and I couldn't detect anything obvious. I had the oil changed and the transmission fluid was down a little. After that the engine light went out. Well it came back on later on and I still couldn’t detect anything, nothing looked bad according to the gauges. Monday I drove it to work and I started hearing something that sounded like it was trying to lock up in the front of the engine area. On the way home from work I stopped and looked at the engine because of this sound but still couldn’t see anything obviously wrong. However I could see the back side of the belt was very shinny like it had been rubbing something. I also felt something that felt like it was grinding once and I noticed a different response in the brakes once also. I even noticed that a few times something seemed to be out of balance like the tires and then it would straighten up and go back to normal.

Yesterday I took it to my mechanic and they discovered the A/C compressor was going bad, I also needed rear brakes. Upon further investigation they discovered I had lost a wheel bearing on the right front. They said it was almost at the stage of being dangerous.

So much for the rebate check, I think this is about the third time now that I’ve spent it to help stimulate the economy!

Now… back to your thread.

Bill,
We both must be living right. At least our problems happened and did not cause any accidents, injuries or even discomfort (other than that well-known feeling of discomfort when you have to remove money from the wallet!!!).

You know Bingo? ... I'm driving a borrowed car that has a front tag which says "prayer changes things." I mentioned in another thread several months ago about how that we will have a family prayer just before taking a trip asking for protection, etc.... We have had our share of problems but like the time we lost our brakes on the M/H, in the campground, after a 500 mile trip when we had just went across the mountains a few miles prior to that; sometimes it’s difficult to think that things like that are just a coincidence. We may never know just how much difference a simple prayer can make. So I do believe that living right can be a factor.

Remember what Romans 8:28 says?
