Anyone want aluminum siding and roof again!

I don't know about others but I wish they had an aluminum option. I'm disappointed with the fading of gel coat. I'm disappointed with a thin rubber membrane on the roof..with the painted Aluminum it always looked great even years later. With an aluminum roof, no tears, or staples coming up, ... just a thought.

Clearly you don't spend time in Kansas and New Mexico like we do. Wind and hail have a little bit of influence on Aluminum. We've got a few older rigs out here in NM that look like a herd of drunken monkeys got loose on them with ballpeen hammers while the rigs nextdoor just had to replace a vent or two.

2X what DQDick mentioned. If you've ever had an aluminum sided RV that has been in even a moderate hail storm ... it's embarrassing to pull around it looks so beat up. If you've ever been inside a tin roofed RV in a rainstorm ... it's pretty noisy compared to a rubber roof. There are cosmetic maintenance issues with any thing you own ... If you stay ahead of normal weathering ... our fiberglass or filon sided fivers can still look near new for years to come.

Friend just traded off his SOB TT that had aluminum siding. The roof (don't know what it was) started leaking at the front curb side corner where it joined the siding. He did not know it until he noticed water leaking into the inside beside the bed. He did not use it very often and it sat outside year round. Checking around he found 2 other leaks on the street side. By the time he did find them, it had significant structural damage to the roof and side walls wood framing.

I have had aluminum sided 5ers and TTs and will never go back. They dent. They fade and oxidize. They will pop and crackle from uneven heating.

I would not be adverse to an aluminum roof though as some Henry's silver roof coating along with some silver caulk, both found at any big box store works well, lasts for years and will fix any potential leaks.

Had an aluminum roof on a SOB class C years back - until the aluminum corroded and fell apart. Wasn't cheap to fix!

if you've ever spent summertime in the Black Hills of SD, you will learn real quick about hail damage. Destroyed a couple cars winshields and aluminum siders in the campground we were at, I was lucky, until i went to drain the black tank, i'd left the sewer hose hooked up, looked like a water park when i opened the black valve...lol!
