Wet Bolts System

I found it once on this site - it's hiding now

Wet Bolts on Mor Suspension - no grease zerks - how do you lube - as usual dealer is a bust

In order to be a wet bolt there has to be a zerk. Otherwise there is no way to lubricate and the bolt/bushing is not "wet".

There is no way (that I am aware of) to lubricate the old style bolts other than removing them, smearing grease on it and the bushing, and then reinserting the bolt. A less than ideal method.

Seems to me when I looked at 2016 brochures the HCs did not have wet bolts. Mike

Wet Bolts

2014 HC 305RL. Just put in wet bolts and Metal (Bronze?) bushings to be ready for a 6,000 mile trip. Glad I did. With less than 10,000 miles on the 5er the (teflon?) bushings were completely worn through on one side. Make the change.

I installed wet bolts on my 2006 Monty after 2 years. The cheap plastic inserts were useless and degraded to the point of no effective use. After 8 years of towing and maintenance on the original wet bolts--I replaced all of them. So, plan on a full replacement after 6-8 years of towing about 4000 miles per year. Moryde is very quiet about this issue but the alternative is worse--no RVing for me.

$90 delivered - should be here before the weekend. Was really surprised, also found the on Walmart On-Line website for In-Store pick-up complete kit - went a different route to have to them sent to house. Tried the local RV Store, they were buying for the same price. I was willing to pay a little more, not 30%

Good upgrade. I did mine this spring. One suggestion: get the whole coach off the ground and remove all 4 tires. I'm sure most do it this way, but I thought I could do one side at a time. The instructions said it's do-able, but much easier with the rv completely off the ground. I was on soft ground and didn't want to support the entire rig that way. But, I cribbed the heck out of it after the problems I ran into with just one side up. As a result, the second side went much more easily.

How often do you grease the wet bolts?

In the Dexter manual, they say the wet bolts should be lubed every 3,000 miles. The little effort to lube them that often is much better than having to replace all the bushings due to lack of grease.

Guess I'm in trouble then. We're finishing our latest big trip and have over 7k miles since I lubed them before leaving home! Not a problem to do once we get there though - have a HF air powered grease gun.

Make sure to lift the weight off the suspension when greasing
