we did. I did not re-screw the table back down and have had no problems with it moving during travel so will likely leave it "loose". We sure like the extra room. We sold 3 of our 5 dining room chairs and have never regreted it. We have a regular desk chair at the desk and 2 dining chairs at the table. Works great for us.
