Yes. I have a Onan micro quiet 4000. Mine is in my Motor Home and went bad in 34 hours. My AC was bad and pulling too many amps. These generators have a small set of brushes that excites the armature. The more amps you use the higher the voltage on these brushes and the faster they wear out.
How long will it last pulling that many amps? That is something I don’t know.
If you are buying the generator I would suggest something else.

I have a long bed truck so they are in the back under a cover. They are pretty small but if you don’t have the room then you don’t have the room. Good luck.

Gee, you think? Yes, of course. Even a honda 2200 can run a small a/c or microwave.
You will have nearly 4000 watts. If you have the money and the space do it.

I had a friend who worked on generators. Had his own generator repair business for 30 years. He told me showed me several times the 5500s had a belt that connected the generator with the motor. He said it usually broke at about 800 to 850 hours. The generator required a full disassemble to repair. He said the older ones were better than the new ones.

Take the wattage divide it by the voltage. That will give you the avaible Amperage

Not to hijack the thread, but do the on board onans provide clean enough power for electronics?

I am seeing lots of people have Predator's. This is the Harbor Freight brand, right? Pleased with them? I was thinking about buying 2 of the 2k's and paralleling them.

Yes, the Predator is from HF. The 2,000's are very popular with rv'ers no matter what brand. The Honda's are double the price of the Predator's but the Predator's will run just about anything you want as long as you don't run two a/c's together.

I have two of the 3500 predator generators and I am very happy with them. I had made my own parallel cord because Harbor Freight still does not have one avaliable. I recently purchased the Firman 1201 parallel kit, that is a very nice unit with a 30 amp twist lock plug with breaker on right side, and a 50 amp RV plug with breaker on the left side. Found it on EBay for 74.95 free shipping. Both generators together give me 50 amps, with very little noise.

Im with yoopers, run 2 as well I also have the firman parallel kit and I have the Honda 50 amp parallel plug too. I can run both ac's, and micro, with the overload light just barely coming on, I wanted to make sure I had plenty of power.

I think almost certain the Onan generator is a true sinewave generator.

I have the onboard Onan 5500LP, great for an emergency, but they are not very practical for long term usage, fuel consumption is not good. Looks at the specs on them .
You would be well served to buy a couple 2000's or 2200's and save money ,and fuel. I very seldom run my Onan, mostly to just exercise it. I have a 2000 honda that I run when one is needed, although I am never in a situation where I need a generator to run an air conditioner, so for me the 2000 is plenty. Those big onboard generators just don't make much sense to run hours on end .
