New Tires
Have a 2003 3295RK running the original Goodyear 235/85R16E. Am wanting to replace before heading to the Albequerque Rally.
Would like to avoid spending a fortune, if possible, but still want a quality tire. Would appreciate any experiences (recommendations)
from other Montana owners. Thanks a bunch for your help.

Send a PM or email to LonnieB. He is in the business and can give you good info.

Schmill,
Just about any name brand LT235/85R16 load range E will do ok. Even some of the private label tires would do a good job, they just aren't as easy to find if you happen to need a replacement.
Listed below are a few that I recommend, and the approximate cost per tire mounted and balanced. My personal preferrence, and what I have on my Montana, is the Bridgestone Duravis R500.
Michelin XPS Rib.............$267.00
Bridgestone Duravis R250.....$237.00
Bridgestone Duravis R500.....$207.00
Uniroyal Laredo HD/H.........$160.00
BFG Commercial T/A...........$160.00
Firestone Transforce HT......$155.00
( As stated above, these prices are approximate. They may be lower or higher in your area. )
If there is a reputable tire dealer in your area, I would suggest giving them a visit. Steer clear of John Doe's Pizzaria/CB Shop/Tire Store on the corner type places.

I run the Bridgestone Duravis tires on the rig and Michelins on the truck. You can run the gamut on price ranges but I firmly believe in the adage, "You get what you pay for." When I purchase anything, including tires, I consider what kind of service am I going to get. I know that when I buy tires there are a lot of things to take into consideration. If you're going to be traveling all the time, buy GOOD tires even if you have to pay a little more. If you're just going to be a weekender, going to the lake to fish, take the kids or grandkids to the beach periodically, you can get away with cheaper tires; though I wouldn't do that.

On Lonnie's recommendation I purchased the Duravis 500's. (thanks again Lonnie) They were $878 mounted balanced and installed and they came here to the park to do it. Like Orv, I also run Michelins on the truck.

I would strongly recommend going to a "G" rated tire.
We switched to Hancook 750R16 tires running 100 PSI. ($139.00 ea.)
After 18 months, and no problems, I would highly recommend them. Also, the ride is much better due to stiffer side wall.

You have to make sure your rims will handle the G rated tire. The rims on our Montana were not capable of handling anything higher than the E rated, 10-ply tire. Though the G rated tire would be nice to have, unless your rims can handle it, stay with E rated tires.
