Gassers Be Proud

Of the current price of gasoline. Went into town today and gasoline was $2.31 compared to $2.81 for diesel.

Yes but at 22 to 24MPG + empty and 14MPG towing diesel in the long run is still cheaper. Plus the longevity of a diesel vs a gasser is a very significant reason why I have a diesel.

Ditto Glenn, we used to get 17-18 miles/gal (Canadian) with our 6.0 litre gasser we now get 23-24 with our Duramax!!! One other consideration is that here on the prairies of Canada we are getting about $6000.00 premium on trade in as everyone seems to be looking for a used Duaramx/Allison. Hope that holds true till we trade up! Today in Minnedosa Diesel is 97.9c/lire and gas is 96.5c/litre and a two weeks ago diesel was 16cents CHEAPER/litre. Man are those diesel prices all over the map in comarison to gas, some times even sometimes more or less!!!

Charlie,

Where are you finding gas for 2.31? The lowest I've seen in CO is 2.80 and we thought that was a deal!

Gas in our area , Northern, Ohio , today is 2.269 to 2,299..Diesel is been at 3.099 for weeks.. I don't use my gasser for anything but towing the 3400.It has not moved since we returned from The G.L Rally. We use a Honda Civic 30 to 33 city for running around.. Till the new diesels can prove them selves the 8.5 to 10 MPG we get on the V-10 will be OK.. In this area used diesels and gassers are in great demand.

Good thread and I filled up my truck today. First time in 2 months. I, like Rich, use my Honda Accord as a daily driver.

Gas has dropped to 1.03 a litre. ( 3.8 litres = 1 US Gal ) This is down from 1.18 a litre a while back. Diesel is now higher than gas here at 1.09 a litre.

I fill up at a Super Store where we get 7.5 cents a litre back in grocery coupons. It is Esso gas and I need to buy food so it is a good thing. This makes gas here at about 97 cents a litre so I was wrong as I thought I would never pay below a buck a litre again. Sometimes it is nice to be wrong.

WOW, I think we're being abused in CO. Anyone want to ship a few of those gallons to me? Would would have thought we would have ever thought we were getting a "deal" for gas at $2.25??? When I first started driving I was paying .289 for PREMIUM!

Washington state has the highest tax on diesel fuel in the nation. Oh and dont forget that new governor's scam of adding an additional 32 cents a gallon tax for road repair. According to her, it is the heavy trucks that are tearing the roads, not the studded tires... LOL!! Seems the farther east I came, the cheaper fuel got.

MAC,
Try that link that CAT posted. Select the graphs and overlay a few states. CO is straight line for the last three months, where other states like Ohio just spiraled down over $.70! I think we need a pipeline or something. Must be we're getting ready for that winter additive for our altitude that adds additional costs (MTBE or whatever it is).

Lowest price today was outside of Mexico Beach FL at 2.79. Filled up 50 miles earlier and paid 2.92 and I had plenty to make it another 50 miles. Oh well I guess it just comes with the territory

EPA has declared MTBE illegal and it is no longer added to gasoline, this is the why of the signs on pumps "Contains Ethanol".

Just bought Shell diesel for $2.51 in Northern Virginia. Bets the heck out of the $2.99 I paid at home in Huntsville, AL. Of course we are getting gouged by the local distributor since we do not have a pipe line or take farm within 125 miles.

Thanks Charlie - I couldn't remember if they use anything in our winter gas or not. They used to start around September and run it until May and it increased the cost per gallon.

Just got back from a trip to Eufaula Lake about 30 miles south of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Regular unleaded in that area was $2.17/gal and diesel was as low as $2.51/gal just north of Bartlesville. If I'd had a Diamond Shamrock card I could have got it for $2.43/gal!! Geeze ... 2 years ago I'd have thought the world was crashing to a halt at this price!
