maiden voyage

Took our first trip in our new TV. Man what a difference between our 99 f250 sd cc 7.3 with banks stinger plus system and this 6.0. I could not believe the diff. in the hp and torque. From a stop to take off the turbo spooled up very quickly and it was like the trailer was not even back there. And on pulling up some bridges from a almost stop the truck was AMASING. I am also impressed with the way the tranny worked in tow/haul mode. I left it in the whole trip which was about 260 miles and it shifted into all gears and i like the way it helps when stopping the TV. I did not manuely check the mpg but the truck said it was 10.5-10.6. I towed 70 mph going and 65 mpg coming back and there was no difference on fuel useage. 3/4 tank going and 3/4 coming back. At one point i kicked her up on to 75 mph and it never looked backed or was never in a strain. Also i kept a watch on temps and all stayed well even the tranny and the outside temp. was 96 to 97 degres. My wife had never pulled with our other truck but see could tell a diff. in the two and it felt a lot safer. I certainly would recommend the f350 drw over the f250 if you are concidering a TV or upgrading. Also the payload is a lot greater at 6000# and a gvwr of 13,000.GREAT TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Almost every time hubby is behind the wheel of our F350 he says, "I can't believe the power this truck has." Our F250 did a good job pulling the Monty, but he is even more pleased with this one. A casual check of mpg indicates it gets 13-14 when towing and isn't broke in yet.

pud2, sounds like you got a winner there as a TV. We have had ours most of the summer and only pulled with it a few short trips. I was hoping to get 10-11mpg or better pulling longer distances like you did. We plan to check it out closer pulling to the rally. We will have better hand calculated results after that trip. Although I don't think the readout on the truck is far off. I have hand calculated some of the fill-ups and they are within .1 or .2 from what the computer states.
