Dual AC Units on 5th Wheel

Recently purchased first fifth wheel previously had a Outback TT with single ac unit. New 2015 Mountaineer 350QBQ has dual units. Dometic 15000 BTU in Bunk House and 13500 BTU secondary unit in master bedroom upstairs. Controlled by Dometic CCC2 Thermostat with Zoned control. First trip out we noticed the secondary unit upstairs cycled constantly (Fan on Compressor on, Compressor off then fan off 7 sec later fan back on). Returned to dealer and were told unit was installed but not connected to Duct work, Connected and repaired. Second trip out it still cycles a lot now only off about 30 - 40 sec then back on. There is a inside temp sensor mounted in bunk house but not one in Master Bedroom. Trying to understand how this setup is supposed to operate. Seems to me the larger unit should be primary and the smaller unit secondary but the larger unit hardly ever comes on.

Anyone have dual ac setup and can share info on whether or not I
should have a inside sensor in the master Bedroom as well?

Confused.

We have a sensor in the bedroom, mounted on the ceiling. Are you sure you set the desired temps correctly for each zone?

Thanks for the reply. I thought I should have one in the bedroom but do not. I have checked the zone settings and can set both zones on same temp and still see the same results. it appears the temp sensor has been inadvertently left out but I was trying to see how other units were setup. Do you 1retired06 also have a sensor for the other unit?

On ours, the thermostat functions for the unit in the living room and the bedroom has a sensor on the ceiling next to the unit.

Maybe my setup is just backwards. If the sensor should have been in the bedroom and the larger unit should have been controlled with the thermostat. Not sure what my options are.

Do you have the manual for the cc2? I have a 3750 and I have 2 a/c's in mine. 15,000 btu in the bedroom and the 13,500 in the living area and I have the CC2 thermostat. I have one temp sensor mounted on the wall in the bedroom for the bedroom a/c and the other temp sensor for the living area a/c is in my thermostat (like in your home). There is no other temp sensor that I can find in my Rv and I've looked all over several times. That is why I am almost positive it's in the thermostat. Where is you thermostat mounted? Mine is mount in the living area next to my entrance door and that senses the temp in the living area for that a/c. I too was wondering why they put the large 15,000 btu unit in the small bedroom area and the smaller 13,500 unit in the large living area. I fiqured that a since the rv's come standard with one primary ducted 15,000 btu unit and the second one is an option. They put the primary one in the bedroom for comfort and more air flow when sleeping. The optional smaller one goes in the living area if ordered. I guess if you ordered only one a/c it's better to have it in the bedroom? Did you try reinitialize your thermostat to reset it back to the factory default setting? It should be in the operation manual. These manuals might help.

Here is a link for the CC2 thermostat diaonostic instructions:

The following links might take a minute to open.

A link to the cc2 operation instuctions:

A link to the cc2 user guide:

http://www.dometic.com/QBank/EPiServ...uide_17583.pdf

Hope this helps...

I'd be taking your unit back to the dealer you bought it from and have them figure it out since it is a 2015 unit. It has a warranty and that would fall under that warranty. Apparently the dealer did not do a proper PDI with you and explain all things connected to the unit.

I must have, since the front ac like the rear, goes on and off based on the temp setting, but a different device (maybe built in to the thermostat), since I cannot see it.

Great reposnses and Thanks for your input.

DMaxDually - The thermostat in my unit is also mounted just inside the entrance door to the living area. (Downstairs from where the smaller unit is in the master bedroom). My thinking was that the larger unit should be utilized to cool the largest part of the RV. And the way its operating is as if the smaller unit is primary and the larger on is secondary. The links are Great and Thanks for the info.

Rondo - That is maybe my next best options. I contacted Keystone RV Customer service only to be sent a copy of the manual for the ac unit.

I will keep plugging away until I get some answers as to how it was designed to work.

Sounds like there isn't a bedroom sensor in your Mountaineer. Keystone customer service should have been able to explain the set up!!

Usually they use RJ11 "telephone" cables for all the hookups to the control units. So it could be that they plugged the wrong cable into the wrong input. The thermostat controller "does" have the temperature sensor in it for the ac that is hooked to. The other sensor in the rv is a small round unit that gets mounted in various places dependant uponmodel. We NEVER set the two ac's at the same temperature! There is usually several degrees difference and why have the bedroom running real cool when you aren't in there? John

Call customer service again, you may have gotten someone ready to go on break and didn't want to spend time explaining.
