Kitchen slide tips out
I have a 2980RL Anniversary Edition. The Kitchen slide tips out when making a left turn. It did this when we first got the unit, but I thought it was due to my not fully closing it. A driver came up to me the other day and told me that the slide was tipping out, so it's still doing it.
Does anyone have any experience/solutions concerning this problem?
Thanks.
Chuck

Happens all the time...I wedged a board on top of the slide between the top of the slide and the wall to keep the slide from tipping out in a turn.

Thanks Hooker. I have thought about doing that, but I know me. I will forget about it being there, or someone else will open the slide, and I will have more damage than the tip out will cause. I thought the Hydraulics would lock it down; obviously not the case

I would venture to say that your slide is not quite adjusted correctly as far as the cylinder and related brackets. I've owned 3 different Montanas all with slides including a 2980RL ... none have ever had any of the slides tip out on a turn enough to even begin to notice . There is a adjustment procedure on the Lippert website or have a dealer do it. Small adjustments make a big difference ... do not tighten both large nuts up against one another on the cylinder shaft, they are spaced for a reason. The cylinder has more stroke than what the slides can move ... tighten the nuts together and you'll bust something expensive!!!!

I was told the kitchen slide is most likley to tip out due to the weight of the refer.

I can agree with that one; the Kitchen is the shortest of the three slides, and the most top heavy. Perfect design for tipping out.

I had this happen on a 2009 3400. Montana added the awning unit and that stopped it. They did it under warranty. I appreciated them paying for it.

The kitchen slide is the biggest one on the rig and has the dining table & chairs and the fridge. Even when the fridge is full it has never tipped, creeped or moved from it's retracted position at any time.
I think using the wood is a clever but temporary (or an inexpensive) fix, but there is definitely a problem that should be addressed. I hope you try what others have mentioned to fix this but I do think in the long run this should be fixed.

Thanks to all for your inputs. I will continue to monitor for any more suggestions/comments. Will also contact Keystone and see what they have to say.
