Fireplace malfunction
Our flames have stopped moving in the fireplace. Don't know if there is something that jumped off track or how they flames are "moved". Anyone have any experience with the innards of the fireplace?

the light bulb is probably burned out. You have to take the front molding and glass off the fire place to get to the light bulbs. (tedious job). It takes two different kinds of light bulbs when you get in there.. one wattage for above and a different wattage for below. Plan to change both as it is no fun taking the front off. Sorry I can't remember the wattage or what kind they are. It may be in the manual.Be careful with the glass. Protect it from getting bumped etc.

What a timely post! Our flames stopped flickering recently, too, and this was added to our short list of warranty items. Will keep the info on hand, though. Thanks!

Had the same problem with our fireplace and during PDI it was caught. they just ordered a complete new fireplace and replaced it. Figured might as well start out with one that was 100% off the bat.

There is a small electric motor that drives that flame bar. I called Optiflame and they sent me a new little motor for free. They just wanted the bad one back in return.

Thanks all, Dave, I will call them once I get back to the Monty and dig out the info (just put in back in the storage lot upon our return from a trip to Florida). It is not the bulbs since the flames still light up, just don't move. Dave, what did you have to do to get to the motor? remove the front same as described above to replace the bulbs?

Yes, Bill, you have to pull the fireplace out and take it apart. Not that hard of a job. Just a few screws (6-8 if I recall correctly) to take the back off.
