Nope. We have a 2019 we bought in Nov that has the legacy package. Elec/hydr brakes and a 2011 GMC. We had to buy an aftermarket brake controller. The P3 works great!

I ment the first one my dealer sold.
The controller they installed for me was the P3 but the Factory controller keep sending error code. Hopefully I can get my 5th wheel back in sometime in March to get the module installed so I can use my factory system.

Joe do you have a factory break controller on your truck?

I called Dexter and talked to a engineer he said using the module is the better way to go.

I did the same thing. Called dexter. They told me the module is an option but the P3 was better. My dealer said the same thing. I went with the P3.

Brake controller issue

AV Tech.... I'm having the same exact issue with my 2020 Montana 3701 LK..... I have a new 2020 GMC 2500 AT4... hookup 5th wheel up ... said service brake controller. no brakes.... tech changed fuses thought it blew a fuse. no luck. hooked my truck up to another 5th wheel but with electric brakes ... it worked... so i guess my brake controller isn't compatible with the hydraulic /electric brake set up. Did you get everything resolved? If so what did you do? I had to leave my 5th wheel at the dealer yesterday with them scratching their heads trying to figure out what was wrong. whether ir was my truck or the 5th wheel... Thanks

Your truck is Different from mine you should be able to switch your truck brakes to electric over Hydraulic. Should just be a setting in your menu.

trailer brakes

AV Tech, My trailer brake is for Electric braking. I looked through the menu and there wasn't any place to select electric or hydraulic. I'm thinking i need the module you were talking about to recognize the hydraulic braking. also does your 5th wheel have hydraulic breaks? and any loud noise as the hydraulic fluid is being transferred to the brakes?

We got our 2020 Monte Legacy in November. Pulled it home with our 2016 Silverado 2500HD Duramax. No brakes. Dealer told me not comparable with Chevy will need adapter. Lucky only 7 miles to home. Just got a 2020 Silverado 3500HD SAME PROBLEM.

Called mobile tech told them about HydraStars adapter they ordered it coming next week. I’ll post results.

Send a message via Yahoo to NCFischers
On my 2013 Ford F350, I just had to go to the DIC (dashboard) and change the setting to electric over hydraulic.

Danny, yes for the '16 you would need the CAM Module, but starting with the 2017 GMs are compatible without the adapter. Had one in my '11, but pulled it out when I got the current '18.
I would check with a buddy or someone and verify that the brakes actually would on the Monty.

Chevy dealer had no problem but tested with standard electric trailer brakes but not electric/hydraulic brakes. I still get ‘Connection problem-electric Brakes’ and ‘Service trailer brakes’ and ‘Check trailer wiring’. Anyway I’ll post what the tech discovers next week.

My 2013 Ram also just have to change dash to electric over hydraulic. Mine says heavy or light electric over hydraulic so I am always at heavy.

Brake Controller

I was told that the issue is with the newer 5th wheel that have hydraulic brakes installed may have a problem with some vehicles communicating or recognizing electric/Hydraulic brakes... I took my 2020 GMC in the local dealer and they said it wasn’t a truck issues that GMC trucks recognize both electric or electric / hydraulic.... Dodge you can select on your dash one or the other.... GMC is automatic. The RV dealer had to install Hydra Star controller that matched my truck. Once that was done everything worked perfectly.

Thanks for sharing. Hope the Hydrastar adapter is the answer. Tech coming next week. I’ll post our findings. Fortunately I only live 7 miles from Elkhart and 20 from Goshen ( Keystone).

Brake Controller

Hey all...success!
RV Tech from Affinity came out today. Checked fuses and documented brake connection error messages. We disconnected my 2020 Silverado and connected his 2015 GMC... Brakes worked with his truck. So he installed the HydraStar (HBA-CAM 381-7073) actuator adaptor reconnected my truck and still got the error messages ‘No Connection Electric Brakes’ and ‘Service Trailer Brakes’. We then turned the truck off and started it again. IT WORKED! I now have Electric/Hydraulic Disk Brakes. I guess once he installed the adapter turning off and restarting must have reset the brake controller. Hope the resolution to my troubles will be helpful to somebody else. Thanks to all those that gave advice to help me.
Dan

Good morning to all from Oklahoma, I'm desperate for help! I have a 2020, 3121 Legacy with the disc brake up grade that do not work. I'm trying to verify some wiring in the Pin box electrical junction box. My 7 pin blue is connected to a single black on the trailer, is this correct? I have a trailer blue/yellow connected to a light blue trailer wire, is this correct? Please and thank you!!
