Generator theft deterrent

I made the first of two theft deterrent guards for the Honda's handle. The first one took some head scratching, my hair looks just like poor Nick below now.
The second one will go quicker, as I won't have to engineer as I go...just copy.

Check out the slide show: theft control

Ozz, where did you terminate the strap on the front side by the filler cap.

Thanks Tom, they sell a sheet metal one for $60??? I'm not sure, that's the way to go, you could stamp them and bend them quickly. I was muttering around in the shop most of the day.
nosticks, I ended the metal about 3/4 way down by the filler cap. It's in the slide show link.

Twin separated by birth. It's how I feel each morning when I wake up...and how I look when I retire to bed. :O

I'm not sure I understand.

A thief cannot pick it up by the handle, but can it still be picked up in bulk?

Wayne the metal around the handle just slows, and hopefully deters them from cutting the handle when you have a chain or cable threaded through the handle for securing the generator. You can still get your hand in my handle to lift it.
Now see, you are a very smart man, my theft deterrent puzzled you, so the dumb ole thief's will just pass on by my trailer.

I tried to fit bolt cutters under there..won't fit. I would have added more metal if they would.
Like I stated it won't deter someone if the have the tools and time, and don't mind a few thousand volts from my Tazer if I catch them in the act. I might even 'hose them down' with some Red Dye in my Pepper spray for identification later on.
It's not an easy life being a Thief.

Bolt cutters for the chain maybe? It's tough staying ahead of thieves. I've got a 5500 Generac on the carrier that slides out from under the Mountaineer. I just bolted it down good. If they find time to remove the bolts, and want to pick that heavy son of a gun up, I guess they'll own it. That is, if they can out run the buck shot. We don't use tasers or pepper spray in Texas!

It's easier (and more fun) to fill the hollow handles with C-4 and a small pressure switch. It may be hard on the generator but it cuts down on repeat offenders.
