A question for the 'brain' trust . .

I finally decided I'd put off cleaning the front of our Monty of it's seriously heavy coat of bugs from VA to WA and OR and back. Twelve weeks of only one day of real rain and a couple of misty days had really left a lot of them all over it. Using a medium scrub brush, warm water with a good dish washing soap, I was able to get a good 90% of them (see photo of the half way mark). The question is: What's the best bug remover anyone's found?

Wet dryer sheets gets off the really stubborn bugs and road grime. Just be sure to rinse and wash well after.

Twelve weeks, hope you didn't have any permanent staining, 409 or fantastic works for me, but cleaning off the front cap ( usually water is sufficient) is part of our setup each night.

Jeez, 12 weeks!! My wife makes me clean the front off each stop, because we have the windshield on our front cap, and she does not want to be sitting at the dinner table and eating, looking at bugs all over the place. But I agree, each time I put Nufinish wax on, it really keeps the front easier to clean off the bugs.

I also use wet dryer sheets. Just abrasive enough to get the bugs off with no damage to the surface.

I wax the front cap every time before we take it out, makes the bugs come off a lot easier. Clean it off when we get to campground. Keep the rest of the rig waxed as well.

Ive used a product called Purple Power for over 40 years on plastic, paint, aluminum, chrome, rubber and everything else I could find to use it on. It has never hurt anything I used it on. I used it this week on my Weather Tech floor mats. They would not come clean by washing with dish wash and a pressure cleaner. I put a little on waited 5 minutes or so washed it off, clean. It's is good a tire cleaner as I've ever used. I always use to on the front of my Autos to clean the bugs off. On the front of my camper when it looked like yours after 5000 miles. I stray it on brush lightly and after about 5 or 10 minutes brush lightly again and spray it off. Repeat if necessary. Just don't use too much elbow grease it isn't needed.
Mix about 30% in water. You can get it at Advance auto. We were buying it when Advance Auto was a local store. Advance Auto was started here in Roanoke.

All you who wax/clean the front while traveling must spend more time doing that than driving! We went a good 8k miles and never stayed at a CG that allowed washing/cleaning at a site. Haven't seen any in over 20 years of RVing either.

I did wax the front cap before we left, but the problem was not having any wet weather to speak of on the entire trip. I've tried Goo Gone and it works fairly well, but am going to try some dryer sheets next. Purple Power if they don't do well.

Walt I've been a production machinist for over 50 years. We try quick and easy first and if that don't work out then we go to the hard way.

I have found that if you take a bucket of car soap mix, and a long brush, and just brush the front cap, and then go get clean water 2-3 times and brush it again to rinse, and then I take a broom with a towel on it, and i am done in 5-10 minutes, and the RV parks do not bother me. If anyone bothers me, I just say I'm getting the bugs off of the front, not washing my whole rig. So far all the RV parks that say no washing, have not hassled me. They just don't want you spraying a hose that could get your neighbors panties in a bunch, if you hit their rigs! One place let me wash the whole rig this way, after we went thru a rain in Salt Lake City, and our whole rig was white from salt spray. I asked first there, and told her I did not want the salt sitting on my paint job for days, and she said, fine, just don't use a hose.

Goo Gone is for removing adhesive stickers, like your decals

No, I won't use it on the decals. Gonna get a gallon of this stuff when they've gotten too far gone to look at: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00S8N2M...=21LTELZGRW0PT If the thing still has shadows from them maybe I'll paint it with marine epoxy white paint.

Another vote for dampened dryer sheets for bug removal. Then a good washing, and I just started using F-11 Top Coat for a final shine. This F-11 stuff is legit. I imagine along the lines of REJEX but easier to apply.
