One job down, another queued up...

Well, the new toilet is in place. It will be nice to not have to sit "on the floor" anymore

I put in a Bravura toilet with the optional sprayer already attached. The sprayer isn't working right. I'll have to call Thetford to see about a new part

Next up: I have a new water pump (Flojet Smart Sensor 5.7 Extreme) to put in. I'll be replacing some of the rigid piping that the Keystone factory ran right up to the pump (contrary to the pumps directions ) and pay better attention to how it is attached to the floor. The factory pump is screwed directly to the floor with no rubber isolators No wonder the original pump is so noisy. AND I think I see the pipe that slaps an interior wall to add to the din....

If Keystone would just pay attention to installation, it would have been SO MUCH BETTER. There are THREE things that they could have done to make my pump quiter and they did none of them.

I think that for giggles and grins, I'm going to look for another set of rubber feet and double isolate this pump from the floor, tie up the pluming so it doesn't slap the walls and add in a generous amount of flexible tubing.

I'm also looking forward to a steady flow of water from the new pump instead of the water pressure jumping around all over the place...

Eric

Sounds great!! Keep us posted on the results--we aren't thrilled about the noise either and would be happy to hear of a successful retrofit.

These isolation are mounts at Amazon
KNC Homeshop HSRD-A/2 Equipment Isolation Mounts - 2 per carton
This is what they look like
http://www.knchomeshop.com/HSRD.asp

Maybe they would work on the pump even though they are a little large.

What flexable tubing/fittings work on the pumps, the clear stuff at Lowes etc.?

I assume you need two packages? Have you already tried these and how much better is it with them installed? Our pump isn't that noisy and works fine. I like the idea of an accumulator and may be interested in working on this before we head out west this year.

I haven't installed them. I just decided to do a Google search on isolation mounts after reading Erics post. Two may work if the pump were mounted on a plate. Ours sounds like it's going to get the 5er to take off speed.

Ron, the pump in our old TT fit that description (after adding in the soft tubing and remounting it.) It had a good rate of water flow. The only thing that really bugged me with that pump was how often it would turn on & off with pressure changes that drove me crazy. I added an accumulator to it and was quite happy with it the rest of the time we had it.

If it starts to act funny it likely means that you need to top off the air pressure in the accumulator. As small as they are, they are pretty sensitive to their internal air charge. Be sure to mount the accumulator so you can top of the air easily. Mine was not easy to get to....

Skip,

Thanks!!! They look interesting. I was talking with a friend at work and we were trying to figure out how to mount large grommets to do the job. I'll consider these if I can't find anything else from the local stores. My only concern with them is that for the weight they will hold (even for the desktop size) vs the small light pump, they may still be a bit rigid.

I gotta do something. I ran water to do dishes one morning when I got up before Mary Lou and the pump woke her up. Can you say "Grumpy"? Yeah, I knew you could...

Thanks for the info on the tubing.

Maybe cutting them down a little or turning a few small grooves in them would soften their action, if needed.

Eric, how do you top off the pressure in the accumlator?
Thanks.

Steve, if you look

http://www.campingworld.com/browse/s...13&skunum=2290

at the end opposite of where the pipes attach, you will see a schrader valve. Take your air compressor/air tank/etc and air it up.

Thanks, Eric. I thought it might have something to do with turning the pump off and on or something.

Anyone looking to replace their pump might consider the Shurflo Whisper Quiet pump. It comes with little rubber feet and is not too loud, as in drive you out of the rig. We have one in our Monty and had the same and an accumulator tank in our previous fifth wheel. This pump doesn't seem to pulse at all and Bob isn't going to put an accumulator tank in unless it becomes a problem.
