Heater Failure

I switched tanks for propane and my heater quit blowing hot air, it was blowing but just warm/cool. So, being that I am so smart, not, I thought my regulator had gone bad or it was vapor looked. Did the ol oven burner test and bright blue flames, so I called the mobile tech. We pulled the burner out and there were six stink bugs in the burner tube which was blocking the flow to the burners so even though the furnace was igniting it wasn't getting enough flow for hot air. Not only do stink bugs stink but they can get fried, not stink, but still cause trouble! This little $150.00 note may save all of you some cash down the road. South Carolina has a lot of different bugs, a story for a later time.

There are stainless steel screens, brand specific, for heaters sold at most rv outlets/CW that help prevent those sorts of things. They cover the exhaust outlet.

It doesn't take much to cause problems, even a spider web in the burner tube.

Dang stinkers!
Thanks for posting this, incidents like this help all of us to see what possible problems are out there. Sorry you had to pay the service, especially when you did have the screen. I don't see how the bugs got in there with a screen on, maybe you need to re-visit the whole screen idea. Are they the Stainless, small mesh screens?
I don't know how they got in there with screens on, it is a sealed unit. Maybe they crawled in before the screens were on?

One morning in West Va on our way home from Fl I turned on the furnace a hell of noise!

I removed the cover inside with a flash light I found a D.O.A Mouse that did battle with the furnace fan. So if a mouse can get in their no problem for a stink bug.

This summer problem with Fantastic Fan removed thermostat and guess what a Stink Bug!
The Amish craftsman had a 3 Inch hole in the wall to run the wires looks like they used the claw on a hammer to make the hole

Yes folks I had a SS small diameter screen on the inlet, it just so happens these bugs wanted to go to a BBQ and they wound up being the meal. Not very taste for the expense!
