lub on slide rubber
HI
I would need to put some lub on the rubber around the slides but what do I use?

I've been wondering the same thing. My guess would be some spray silicone. Hopefully the experts wil chime in if that's not a good idea.

They say the commercial treatment in a spray can at the rv supply stores is good. Don't know about the rest of it.

I use 303 protactant on my seals.Keeps them nice and pilable.

Silicone spray is what was recommend by Dale Brubacker at the GR MOC regional rally in 2005. At that time Dale still worked for Lippert.

I agree with Glenn, I was instructed to do the same but from the dealer I purchased it from.

I used the foam spray on seal lube form Camping World. Seems to work ok.

Had our Montana repaired at the factory and they used a product by Cyclo Heavy duty sillicone spray (synthetic polymer lube)
Seems to work.

I use Thetford Rubber Conditioner on the slide rubber every two months. I use the slide lube every month. I purchased mine at CW for about 12 bucks a can.

Aerospace 303 works well, but for a cheaper remedy try baby powder. Helps keep the seals from drying out while also keeping them quiet against the fiberglass wall. I got the baby powder idea from the engineers at Country Coach, manufacturer of high end Class A motor homes.

I would think any of those mentioned above would be fine. Some Walmarts carry the lube spray, too.
Just remember to do both sides of the seals, not just what you see outside.

I would agree with Okie Guy about Thetford rubber lub. I have used silicon sprays also but there is variability in silicon sprays as a rubber preservative. I think that any of the products on the market that spacifically say for rubber preservation is the better stuff. The foaming spray seem to penetrate the rubber best. Even tire spray from an auto parts store works good.

I got a tip serveral yrs ago from a couple of rv repair guys, they use "lemon pledge" and i have used it ever since and never had a problem with seals drying out,

After using two or three different products, I have settled on Aerospace 303, but have no scientific data as to why. Just my choice.

The seals on my last Monty 3400 worked just fine until I put rubber lube on them. From that point on they would never go out like they are supposed to, to slick. I would always have to get up on top the slide when it was half way out and flip the rubber out so it would work as designed. My new Big Sky will NOT be lubed with anything. If it isnt broke dont fix it.

Hi Gang,
I've told everyone and have done it myself, to use the silicone.
After you wash your coach, use a clean towel and dampen it with the silicone and simply wipe each side of the wiper seal or squeegie.
However, I do like the idea of baby powder or talcum. All of these things in variation, silicone and talcum, I used to use years ago in my previous life in plastics injection molding as release agents so hot plastic mold parts would pop out the mold easier as the eject pins advanced.

We use baby powder too. Also a silicone spray. Dealer told us to not use anything with petroleum. So we read the lables.
