Rear Stabilizer Jack Motor

We had a minor mishap in Joliet. While turning off I80, our wheel road over the curb. Unfortunately, there was a two foot drop on the inside of the curb. The rear of the trailer dropped and broke the motor off of the rear stabilizers and punched a hole in the corner of the rear cap. Anyone know the best place to get one of the motors and can a body shop fix the fiberglass corner?

Can't help you with the motor but I would strongly recommend getting your axle checked as well. Curbs are known as the primary culprit in axles going out of proper alignment or bend! I will add if a body shop cannot repair the cap, a good marine repair shop with experience in fiberglass is probably your best bet. Sorry to hear of the mishap and hope the repairs go well.

A good body shop should be able to do the job well since many parts of some high dollar cars are fiberglass, but as Bingo says a good boat shop should also be a good choice. I don't have a good place to get a motor. I don't use my remote since we added level up and I've figured that I'd use my cordless drill to run them down manually when my motor bites the dust.

Don't know what direction you are heading, there is a Camping World in north Chicago Subs. We used the Camping World at Madison WI a month ago for extensive additions and I can tell you they were wonderful to do business with. The Madison store would be about 2 hours from Joliet.

If your heading east, you are an hour and half from Elkhart. You should be able to find one there. Tiara is right off 80 and I'm sure they will help you find one. The surplus place is almost across the street. If you come off 80 Tiaras drive is on the right and is next to the motel. You have plenty of room in the back to get around with your rig. You can stay at Elkhart cg just a couple miles from there. Take co rd 4 to the east and its on your right. I'd say to go to Shereville Ind. just outside Joliet to Petes RV but not sure they would have the parts. Good Luck

If I was faced with this situation I would use a marine repair shop for the glass work.

Just my 10 cents here but I would go to a body shop - not a marine repair shop. Unless you can find one that does a lot of fiberglass repair. Very few marine repair shops do ALOT of fiberglass work - they do much more more engine, electronics, steering etc etc and finding a good fiberglass repair man can be a challenge and you wont know till he's done.

Body shops on the other hand..... that's what they do. Day in and day out. Fiberglass is not hard to work with. Expoxy or body filler - the techniques are the same.

We are headed to the CPRR next week and one of the stops is the Omaha Camping World. Maybe I can get a motor there. Thanks for the body shop/marine input.

My motor quit on me. I went to a RV parts store in Yuma and they got me a new motor ($400 - ouch). The guy in front of me at the parts desk had the same motor in his hand.
