New pullrite superglide what does everyone use for lube

I just bought a new pullrite superglide and had to install a capture plate on the fifth wheel king pin and can't use my nylon donut anymore. I was wondering what if any lube everyone is using between the hitch and capture plate.

I use WD-40 exclusively. I coat everything that has parts that move and on the slide plate of the hitch each time I move the Montana. I do clean with WD-40 and a clean cloth after each trip also. Very happy with the hitch so far (2 years).

Prior to hooking up each morning with our 2900ISR, which we've have for over six years and 60,000 miles, I spray the ways and a little on the top of the plate with WD-40, just like is recommended in the manual. The pin box does not move much on the top of the hitch and does not rotate, so lube is not really much of an issue. I slide the hitch back by hand each morning and spray the tops and insides to the front ways, then slide it back to straight and spray the tops and insides of the back end of the ways. I occasionally squirt the WD-40 into the gap between the blocks looking forward toward the hitch, which lubes the pivot bolt. Maybe once a year, I take apart the upper part of the hitch so I can grease the pivot bolt that allows the hitch to rock side to side. I have never had to take apart the mechanism that latches to the pin box pin. I did have to replace the cam bearing that runs in the guide slots a few years ago when it came apart, but that is the only thing that failed. If the hitch is not adjusted correctly, you will get a bang when starting or stopping when towing, and that is corrected by adjusting the front tension bolt.

I do just what Rohrmann does. The old Superglides need grease, but the newer ones should only have WD40.

Since the capture plate does not move on the hitch, it really doesn’t require lubrication. But as mine gets scratched up, I wipe a little WD-40 on it just to keep it from rusting. And when hauling something in the back of the truck, I can wipe off the WD-40 easy so nothing gets greasy.
