Getting hooked up with Dish TV

We are just getting around to reactivating our Dish TV after moving into our 3720RL. It seems that we can't find the dish signal on our TV.

We have the Weingard Traveler antenna. It is up and tuned into the three satellites like it says it should, with an * next to each satellite. We have a Dish box, VIP211z. It is turned on. On the TV remote we have checked TV, HDMI1, HSMI2, Component/AV and USB(photos) and can't find a Dish signal. The entire system was wired by the dealer where we bought the rig and had the Weingard installed.

Our Dish account has been inactive for about ten months, ever since a lightning strike blew our tailgater. Do we need to activate the Dish account to receive the basic Dish signal or are we missing something in the setup?

With the sat receiver box turned on and the TV set to the correct input you should see the Dish screen on the TV even before you get connected to the sats, or are even activated. I would first trace the HDMI cable from the sat box to the TV and find out for sure which input it is connected to on the TV. That eliminates that question.

Once connected to the sats you should be able to select channel 101, Dish info channel, even if not activated.

i know with direct tv if you let it go to long they deactivate the controller box and you have to call them to send a signal to it to activate it again. direct tv is 3 months of inactivity. don't know if dish is the same thing

I believe Dish is the same. Call them and ask for an RV specialist.

We did call Dish. It was an easy fix. The hookup was missing an HDMI cable between the box and the TV. It did take three calls to Dish to get everything working as intended. Thanks everyone for the responses.

As info, when the box is properly hooked up, it will be able to display the Dish main menu on the TV screen even without an account being activated.

Obviously the dealer's service tech did not complete and test his installation.

I have an really old Directv receiver, and even though you cant activate it anymore it will still receive the sat signal. So i would agree the problem is with the connection not the dish itself.

Yes, it actually helps to have a feed of some type from the receiver to the TV.
