Autumn Colors in the Mountains
We could not believe how much the trees had colored while we were at the Rally in Goshen. When we drove back toward home, the drive was beautiful. We are now in our WV mountain chalet for the last week before heading south. We can gaze out the window at the montain on the other side of the lake and the different colors just don't end!
Walking through the woods you can hear the crunch of the fallen leaves underfoot as the reds, yellows, and oranges float by in the wind. Only God could paint a scene like this, a camera will not even come close to capturing the true beauty. Makes me realize why I love the fall in the mountains, even though the mornings are getting quite cool and I am ready to head for the Florida sunshine.
This week the leaves are at their peak of color here in the Potomac Highlands of WV. Makes driving on these twisty roads a lot more enjoyable. We know winter in just around the corner. There are many in town raking and burning leaves and the smell of the smoke lingers in the air. As for us we are in the middle of our 35 acres of woods, and we just let nature take its course. When we return next spring, most of the leaves will be blown away and the daffodils will be blooming.
Thanks for allowing me to share these enjoyable times.
