It was a 'Doh' day..

Well, today was the day to pick up the new Monty!!

We live about an hr from the dealer.. we left early this morning to pick it up with the children so we could get it home and start filling it in preparations for camping in two weeks..

Basically, Thursdays are our day off as one business ends on Wednesday and the other starts on Friday.

So, we picked up the Open Road unit and headed down.. signed papers, found some last minute things needing fixing.. then we were ready...

Except... we forgot to bring down the title card.. Doh!

So, off we went home to get the card...

Returned later this afternoon and finalized the papers and walk through.. Whoo Hoo!!

I took the remote controls/paperwork/keys and put them in the cabinet so I would not lose them.

Matthew and I finally got it home mintues ago.. and then we found out that our sales person locked the door prior to us leaving the lot!!

Now, it has one of those door handles that fold over so the door can't open..

and he locked it..

and, the keys are in the cabinet inside the camper..

Matthew (9 years old): "We can break in!" he went to the pass through area and sure enough, the hatches were unlocked!

But, the area does not have access to the main room..

Matthew: "We have a master key for all RVs from the dealer when the lost our keys two years ago!" off he went to find that key..

Well, it was a master key for the type of doors that Open Roads use.. but not on a Monty...

So... I am having a ton of fun sitting next to the camper...

John,
Congrats on your new coach, sorry to hear you are having a bit of trouble getting in. If any Montana owners live in your area, maybe they could stop by and try their key. Hope you are able to get in soon and start packing that baby up for your upcoming trip.

John,
Can you get into the basement of your Monty, and go up through the laundry basket area into the coach?
Just an Idea.

Ok, is this a Montana or a Mountaineer?? From the basement can you find that laundry chute door?? You should be able to try to push up that laundry door up, crawl into the unit and go over to the door and unlock and exit. I am sorry, I don't know if the Mountaineer edition has the laundry chute to the basement or not. OR maybe you have a TT not a 5er???

Ohhh, such a shame, hey good luck getting in, tomorrow is another day.

Do this, once you get in - - - - - ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John,

I was going to make that same suggestion, see if you can get in through the basement, those are "one size fits all" keys for every camper/trailer.

it is a TT.. the phd unit with the rear bunk house room for the children.

It is a mountaineer unit.. no laundry chute.. Matthew would have crawled up that in an instant this evening if that would have worked...

Off tomorrow for another trip..

I think the key will work on your unit.

Just think how years from now, sitting around the campfire and laughing about the whole thing. Welcome and enjoy your new unit with your family. Great way to raise kids.
Happy trails......................
