3400RL

I have found a 3400rl Montana on a sales lot listed for $39,900 new. It is a 2004 model amd I was wondering if that is a good price.I have a Mountaineer 298rls 2004 which is paid for and the dealer want my 298rls and $24,000 for this unit. Is that too much to ask for this? And another question, I have a 2500HD duramax/allison,2003 truck will this pull this 3400 with all of these slideouts (4)? Thanks for the help that is given.

I have the same truck. I am getting the 3400RL next year. I was quoted the same price. Your truck will pull 15300 pounds which is more than enough. What you have to watch for is pin weight. I beleive there are more on MOC that will agree with this. I for one would take the deal. Good Luck!

I personally think the dealership is ripping you off. I was out looking on the net and a brand new unit like the one you have is about the same price as the Montana you are looking at so the trade in price is ridiculous. They are only giving you $15,000 for your unit? I don't think so. And since we don't know what you are getting on your 3400rl it's hard to say if the price is good or not, and you didn't say what region you live in that will make the price different. It's probably a good price but the one they are trying to give you for your unit isn't. Why not try to sell it outright you are going to get a whole lot better price.

I think you should be able to buy the 3400rl for aproximately 28,000.
What is your 298rls worth?

I can't really judge because I'm not familiar with Moutaineer and don't know what options are on the Montana. I'm subjectively leaning toward trying for a better deal as Melissa and Mike suggested. I just (a week ago) traded my 03 Cougar 294RLS and got a little over $24K for it toward a 3400RL. However, remember that the final definition of a "good deal" is one where both parties feel good about the deal when it's done.

The 3400RL Montana I found was in N.C, and I live in S.C. some 60 miles away from the dealer.I bought my Mountaineer from this same dealer or ordered it through him last Fall. It was delivered to me in Nov.2004 and this 3400 is a 2004 also. It does have all the bells and whistles on it.Thanks to everyone that has responded.

If it has all the bells and whistles, then you're probably in the blal park, give or take a few grand either way. I have a 2004 Sierra 2500 HD with the D/A combo and the 3400RL. Cruised along at about seventy coming back home from camping today. Good luck.

I would have to agree with Melissa on this one. They are really taking you to the cleaners on your trade in. $39,900 sounds like a good price, but that depends on the options on it. I know I paid more than that for mine back in April, but the only options I dont have are the slide awnings and high gloss finish. In answer to your second question about the 2500HD pulling the 3400RL, my answer is you will be able to tow that fifth wheel anywhere you want to go. I have been over grades at +6% and have had no problems. Going down the highway at 65-68mph is no problem either. If you really like the new 3400RL I would work the dealership on the trade in. Good luck.

Hi,

Seems we paid a high price for our 3400? -- bought in November of 2003. We paid $47000. Ours was as we saw it on the lot. No high-gloss finish or dual panes. We do have generator prep (propane) and all the other bells and whistles, including the fireplace and central vac.

We didn't know you could custom order these estates on wheels. Had we known, the only thing we'd have done differently is order the dual panes and the high-gloss.

We're very happy with our home.

Larry and Gail,
Yours is right around where I paid for mine. I have talked with a few others who own the 3400RL and they seem to have been paying in the 44,000-48,000 range depending on what part of this year they bought it. I did happen to go into a 2005 3400RL yesterday and I like some of the small changes they made, but the price if memory is right was approx. $50,560. The two four slide models Keystone is making sure seem to be taking the line by storm. I have been so happy with mine, I dont see myself buying a new one any time soon.

Thank you for letting us know. We're happy with ours also...and are slowing turning it into our little castle on wheels. Just a few touches to personalize it.

Yours is right around where I paid for mine. 46,000+ (on sale last March, delivered June 19th), mine is also a 2005 3400RL. Mine came with the central vac, fireplace, everything but duel pain windows, I also added a 5500 watt generator, factory installed, wow, very quite, and a lot of horses. $39,900 for a 2004 is probably a good price, if Duramaxed Rob is satisfied with what the coach has, and is given a new coach warrantee, then I say go for it.

Gary and Jennifer,
Congrats on your new coach. I think the only thing that matters when it comes to pricing is that you the buyer are happy with the deal. It does pay to shop around and compare to make sure you are not getting totally hosed, but in the end as long as all are happy then it is a good deal. Enjoy the coach...

I was just in Tacoma Washington and found a 3400 for 49,000 but I have one here in Kaysville, Utah that was quoted as 45,900 this week. Just more info. Doug

I have one listed here on the for sale section that is only 5 months old, including the F350 for a lot less than a new one.

The 3400RL and the 3650RK were both brand new models in 2004 and were both immensely popular right out of the chute. I'd be willing to bet many early buyers paid a premium, just like when some high-demand low-supply new car hits the road. If you want it, you pay the price, you know?

Also, lots of buyers don't realize that by July that 2004 model is now last year's model since the 2005's are hitting the street. Last year's model should always get an additional discount, I would think.
