Batteries
So I need to replace the batteries on my 381TH. Please advise on the pros and cons of the AGM vs regular, best brands. Is AGM really worth the extra $. I am plugged into power always also.
Thank you

AGM batteries are basically maintenance free.
Flooded lead acid batteries need to be watered a few times a year.
Performance is basically the same. Make sure you get true deep cycle batteries vice starting or marine batteries. Always replace as a pair.

I bought 2 Duracell AGM group 27 batteries at Sams for $168 ea. It seemed like they were hard to find in January-Feb when I was looking. Could not find them online either. Happened to see two of them in our local Sams and bought them.

AGM are maintenance free as stated, and are less likely to be damaged by vibration. They do not off gas while charging as much as flooded lead acid batteries do, but still should be vented. I just had to replace mine this trip and had intended to go with 2 group 27 AGM batteries. Unfortunately, they were unavailable, so I ended up switching to 2 6 volt GC2 golf cart batteries in series. They are 235AH rated which should give me much more capacity than 2 92AH 12 volt batteries in parallel. I'll have to keep a check on the water levels since they are FLA batteries, but the additional capacity with the residential fridge makes it worth it. Also, I got the 6volt batteries for less than what one of the AGM group 27's would have cost if I could have gotten them.

I too bought two AGM Duracell batteries from Sam's Club and they have performed perfectly. When our trailer sits though in storage, I always disconnect the cables off the batteries.

if you have the money great, get the agm batteries. i'd don't know what type of camping you do but I'd just get a couple of 6 volt batteries from somewhere and deal with checking the water level every once and a while.

We rarely dry camp, and have had the maintenance free RV/Marine type batteries since we purchased our rig. Initially, the dealer installed two group 24 Centennial batteries, and prior to our first Quartzsite trip, I upgraded them to the Centennial group 27. So, almost always plugged in, and the batteries last us around five years, and never have to water them, so I am happy not having to mess with them. Sure, if you do serious boondocking, get the better batteries, even lithium if your wallet can do it, but otherwise, do what is easiest for you.

I just replaced mine..it was 5years old, replaced it with a Marine/RV Deep Cycle Walmart Everlast group 27. They had good reviews and we don’t dry camp.
