Welcome to the MOC. It might be something the previous owner installed?

Not normal. My guess would be previous owner added that so that he could plug the male end of extension cord into some external 120 vac power source and the female end of that cord into that trailer male connector to provide extra power to something inside the trailer. Maybe to power 2nd A/C?
But definitely need to find out. You would not want that exposed male connector there if it is somehow hot!

Maybe some hack job for portable solar panels input? Can you post a pic?

When you consider that a 50 amp RV has a male 50 amp connector and a 30 amp RV has a male 30 amp connector it shows it is a standard method of getting power to the RV. So a male 15/20 amp connector would be no different even though not something done by the manufacturer, at least not on a larger RV.
That is why my guess is that it was done by a previous owner to get extra power into the trailer for something. Maybe when on 30 amp service to get an extra 15/20 amps in. Or even on 20 amp service to plug into another 20. Only by tracing out the wiring will you know.
If I remember right from a past discussion, 2002 did not have the same 50 amp power arrangement as newer models even though it did plug into a 50 amp shore power. Carl??????

The way I remember it, the early Montanas had a 50 amp plug but the power panel only had a 30 and a 20 amp breaker.

Thanks, Carl. That’s the way I remember it. Tried to find the old post with a picture of one but could not find it.

Maybe just a quick way to plug in to keep the batteries charged?
