awning won't work

On our 2010 Montana, the awning stopped working. We had it extended, it appeared normal, I went to retract it, and it was straining , and moving very slow, then stopped. It sounded like a low battery, but that isn't the problem, when I stopped it half way in I looked at the struts, they were bending the white steel sections of the frame, I lubed all the moving parts, and cleaned the wire connector, no better, I removed one pin from each strut, there really stiff, to stiff I think, the awning would now retract, but not well, something is causing the motor not to run at full power, or maybe the motor and struts are both bad, I see the struts say made in China, my guess the motor says the same thing, does anyone think they may know what the issue could be, we have 6 weeks remaining on this trip, I am starting to think there is more things to happen, first the Black tank flush issue, now this, thanks Ron

We had the same problem, and it was the motor.

Did you forget to loosen the two black friction knobs on either end of the awning arms?

Agree, the motor is the first thing that needs to be checked.

Yes the two friction knobs were loose, my guess it is the motor, the part that bugs me is the bending of the arms the struts connect to, they bow a good inch or more, and I don't think I ever saw that before, looks very wrong, I do almost every thing to the Montana myself, but I am no awning tech, it is going into the shop when we return in a month
