Montana Brake Adjustment

Can Montana brakes be manually adjusted? A friend had his bearings grease the old fashion way and tech told him to keep hit manual brakes to tighten up. How do auto adjustors work?

They are forward self adjusting if you have drums. Every time you apply the brakes to stop the rig, if an adjustment is needed, they automatically get another click to the adjuster wheel. If you have discs, they are always adjusted.

Yes, I adjusted mine manually after repacking my wheel bearings. I have manually adjusted them one other time.

just installed new brakes on my 2010 3150RL, documentation actually says "NOT " to adjust the forward self adjusting brakes on install, just drive and apply brakes several times to adjust and seat in the pads....

That's exactly what I did every time I replaced backing plate assemblies. I got the shoes spread to the point where I could just get the drums installed, and then the first time we got down the mountain from the FIL's property the brakes were adjusted by the time we were at the bottom of the hill, and probably were also burnished for good braking. This is all behind us now since upgrading to discs.
