Hot water heater problem
Took 5er out for first time this year. Turned electric on for hot water. All was good.
This morning no hot water, light on switch was dark. Tried gas and that light also failed to come on. What do you think happened?
Checked fuses in fuse box and switched them all off and back on. Still no change.
Thanks for any help.

Didn't leave it in bypass did you. Even though that wouldn't explain not lighting on gas.

Your battery isn't dead is it? Everything else working? Have you checked the fuses and breakers? We just need some more info.

Battery is fine. Hooked up to 50 amp. I went to fuse box and turNed on and then off all the circuit breakers. There are a bunch of auto type 15 amp slide in fuses above the breakers. Did not check them as I can't find one labeled water heater.

Hi
When it was new I had a different problem with the water heater. But this last time I had a genius disconnect the water hose just after I had turned on both the gas and the electric to the water heater. The trailer was on a hill and it was about 6 feet above the water faucet so it started draining the trailer water system. I damaged my electric element and the check valve but didn’t damage anything else. It also did not trip the circuit breaker.
I would guess that the control for the water heater is 12V so I would check the fuses in the power center located inside the trailer.
One word of caution: because you can’t depend on the way the trailer is wired I unplug the trailer from the AC power source before I work on any of the AC electric.

That was it. A 15 amp fuse had blown. Had to just pull them out one by one since they are not marked. Replaced it and both gas and electric work now. Wife is happy too.

I think I'd take my trusty label maker and start labeling fuses. I have to go look at mine and see if they are labeled

This is one of the first things the DH did when we got our 2013. Well worth the time it took to trace everything down.

Just did all that when we added solar. Should have done it long ago.

All of my 12 vdc fuses were labeled by someone at the factory and there is a red led below each fuse that will light if a fuse blows. Now I can't vouch that the factory was 100% correct when they labeled them... John

Several of ours were labeled incorrectly, as well as the outside switches that controlled the slide outs. Have to verify them yourself.

My red led light did not come on so I don't know if you can rely on that. Only two red led's lit up when the fuse was removed of the 9 I checked before finding he culprit.
