Bill thanks for the email I gave you a reply but not sure if it came back to you or not. If you need any help please give me a shout I have done this upgrade to my last 3 5'ers and think it's the best option anyone that boondocks as much as we do can do for them selves. Like I said next are solar panels and a good controller then the generator can take a long rest. I have two 5'ers a toy hauler for all my hunting needs and the Monty for my wife's way of camping both are set up with inverter systems all done by me. I'm just a dumb truck driver but I love learning about new things so I didn't blink when I decided to do this .happy camping may we meet one day and share our stories.

Hello Bill,
We are Newbies who just purchased a new 2016 Legacy 3000RE. We would like to Boondocks so are very interested in installing the best additional battery, Inverter, Generator and Solar solutions. I would like to begin ASAP so we are ready to hit the road hard this Fall.
See you at the Rally?
thanks!

Doesn't your inverter have one built in?

You also need something like a Trimetric to monitor your amp usage.

When my 2-12v batteries died a few years ago, I bought 2-6v batteries. Then noticed Costco was getting rid of their in-stock golf cart batteries (6v) and had 4 of them for $50 CAD. I picked them up and now have a 6-6v battery pack.
About he same time, I added a 2000w Pure Sine Wave inverter, a 145w solar panel and a 30w transfer switch. I've since added another 145w solar panel. I did the wiring myself.

It's one of the best mods I've done to our trailer. We don't use the A/C with the inverter, but we can use the M/W, toaster and coffee maker without turning on the generator, which we will to use the A/C. We love the inverter. It's great to watch TV at night when dry camping.

I also added another 50-amp outlet close the the service door so I had a second outlet to plug the heavy 50-amp cord into. Sometimes the connection at the back of the 5er was too far away from the camp RV service. Another mod I'm really happy with and use a lot.

Does anyone have photos of a basic inverter install without solar?
Thanks, Russ 2005 2955RL
