Campgrounds in Lake Tahoe/Reno area
Trying to plan a trip to the Tahoe/Reno area for the first time. We are planning a trip for the end of July, first of August. Any and all recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

We stayed 10 days at Campground by the Lake in South Lake Tahoe a year ago. We dry camped as we have solar but they have hookups if needed. Check their web site as it has a lot of good info about each site.. I was able to pick a site that had good sun coverage for my solar.. I would stay there again. Very handy for sites around the lake..

Out of Reno, about 15 miles west, Bordertown RV park. Lots of pull thrus, fuel, propane, 24 hr rest, mtn views, quiet (at least when we were there), not too expensive if you stay out of the slots only casino. Enjoy your trip.

Make sure its not during Hot August Nites car show in Reno because there probably wont be any openings for two hundred miles in any direction.

Zepher Cove on the east side of Lake Tahoe in south Lake Tahoe, CA. Close to everything in area. Great breakfast at the Zepher restaurant across the street, also take the paddle wheeler for the dinner cruise. Casinos are close by across state line.

I stayed at the Tahoe Valley Campground 2 times and one of them was last September. They are a private type membership/ownership organization, but take ordinary online reservations. Stayed for one week and paid quite a bit for a premium site that would accommodate my 40 foot Montana. It is located on the South end Cal hiway 50 and 89. It's a few miles from Camp Richardson, who limits trailers to 32 feet. You enter on C Street and stop at the top of the road for check in. Left side has numerous pull thrus and the right and straight ahead is the premium sites. If you are a large unit, do walk to the sites to make sure you can get through dozens of trees. The trees caused me a ton of grief with getting the truck to turn in the right direction. Zephyr Cove was too tight and difficult, plus they had closed the Rock tunnel and put single lane barriers through the other tunnel with low clearances. We enjoyed the pool and the conveniences locally, but this place is usually packed.

We just left Carson City this morning, stayed at the Gold Dust West Casino RV Park for the past week. This is not a large park, but is easy to access and with the GS discount only $27 per night. This would be right in the middle between Tahoe and Reno.

Thanks for the info on Gold Dust Casino. We are headed over that way next week. The reviews weren't great, but everyone likes something different. We'll check it out.

Boomtown KOA is where we stay in the Reno area, and at Coachland RV Park in Truckee also. Both are quality parks. Also at Boomtown, is the Cabela's sporting store to take more money from you than the slots, haha.. Easy drive West on I-80 to Hwy 267 in Truckee, then south over Brockway Summit to Lake Tahoe, north shore.
