Robotic vacuum

Yup, I bought one intending to the it back after trying it out. Now I do the vacuuming at least once a day. Used it in the Monty and am very happy with performance. Program it to clean while we are gone and come home to freshly vacuumed carpets, DW love it too. Does, laminate, carpet, vinyl and even throw rugs with no problem. I even tried it on the bed mattress (didn't need it) but watched it go to he edge but never goes over. More fun than watching TV. I finally found a gadget DW agrees is a good thing.

If we could only get them to climb steps!! Had one a few years ago and will definitely agree that they are entertaining to watch. I always tried to figure out how they covered the entire floor with no semblance of rhyme or reason with regard to it's chosen path.

oops its bumping my chair right now. Yes stairs would be a good feature. Amazing here in the stick house it runs one full hour on a charge. Entertaining but effective. For only $275 I thought it would be worth it and I thought right.

Anyone ever try putting little pieces of paper around to see if it really covers every inch of floor? I'd be curious about that. And, how does it do the corners, like right up to the corner itself. Are those robotic vacuums round? If they can do all that, wow, I'd be interested. But, since we are fulltimers, it also would have to climb stairs, as Bingo said.

I used it at our church and did put little pieces of paper around all the chairs and I was so impressed it picked'em all up! But stairs it won't do. It is not heavy so I just put it upstairs and there it goes doing its job and not complaining..

That's still impressive. I guess I'd just have to pick it up and move it upstairs and maybe onto each step to let it do it's job. I guess that's a fair tradeoff for not having to manually vacuum this place!

If you have a Roomba do not expose the unit to long hair. The rotating brush gear box is not sealed worth a darn. It contains cheap plastic parts. Hair will get in there, destroy the cheap gears, and the brushes will not turn. Once this happens you have to replace or repair the gearbox. If they ever get this weakness fixed I agree it is great tool. As far as the corners go they have a rotating side brush to get in the corner really good. The gearbox failure is the only reason we don't still have one.

Steve, it won't do stairs unless they are bigger than normal.

Greg, ours is a "pet" friendly model, 550 and seems to do hair ok, so far. We do have two ****zu's. Been using it for about a month now.

I bought my wife a "Roomba" vacuum 3 years ago. We have a 24x18 carpeted familyroom. It runs automatically 3 times a week. We love it, the trash bin always needs to be emptied of pet hair, loose carpet fibers, sand and dirt so we know it's doing it's job. Al Z
